I don't agree with the "expert" reviews posted. I almost didn't buy the album because of them, but then decided I cannot possibly go wrong. If you like Satriani's fluid sound you will not be disappointed. The more I listen to it the more I love it - I like all songs, not just 1-4, or the last two. Satriani at his best. But, heh, I'm not an expert...

This album is a classic. Dr.Dre was at his best back in the day. "Let's Ride" is a classic joint off this album. This c.d. is a must have. I got this c.d. in my c.d. case in my car. You could pretty much play the whole c.d. without skipping from track to track.

When you realize that these sides were cut in 1949, you can only but marvel at the both the sophistication of both the music and the sound. For those of you that might think that anything recorded almost 60 years ago must sound primitive, think again. This is modern music, timeless music, and will pay dividends on a good sound system. How many 58 year old recording can say that?

This is great stuff, period.

Charles Lloyd continues his musical (and spiritual) journey with a fine album as his group plays both for themselves and the listening audience. Not the warm groove of "Canto" or" Hymn to the Mother" but these are difficult times. There is an exquisiteness to his playing and the mix of sidemen is inspiring. Indeed many of the Lloyd alumni have gone on to fine careers of giving to us and the music.

My Grandmother turned me on to Glenn Millers music a few years ago, when I was in my early 30's. I am now in my late 30's and I still love it. Glenn's music is timeless and still sounds so good. Over the past few years, I have had the privilege of taking my Grandmother to see the Glenn Miller Orchestra perform live and it was absolutely astounding. This cd really captures the magic of Glenn Miller at his best. I highly recommend this cd to everyone.

Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66's hits are pretty much included in this CD. What a wonderful beat and what memories. I highly recommend this CD to anyone wanting a good selection of his early hits. I found all the ones I loved on this CD plus a couple of others that were a joy to discover.

The album itself is fantastic. A genuine classic.

The problem is in the totally crappy re-mastering job. There is audible dropout at the beginning of "Glad" on the left channel, which eventually straightens out after a few seconds, but ruins the song. "Empty Pages" is really bad. It has a wow/flutter effect throughout that might have been in the original recording, but I doubt it. It basically sounds like cassette tapes used to sound when they would get old and worn out, creating a fluttering sound quality.

I suspect the master tapes have gone bad here in spots, but it could just be my system. I listen on headphones, which might make me more sensitive to flaws. But, I think anyone thinking of this purchase might want to test a track ... Read More:

This is not a memorable score - But it does invoke this suberb films memories ( Rozsa - Diomkin - North - NOT! ~ What happened to melody?).
This DECCA CD is the bottom of the barrel - NO INFORMATION WHATSOEVER! No timings - No bios. - Zimmer (we know) - But who is Lisa Gerrard? Does she not diserve a bio? - A CD DISGRACE!
If you liked the film, get it, it is not something that you will listen to often, but it does envoke the film. - This idiotic release is strictly to cash in on its popularity - DITO for "MORE MUSIC FROM GLADIATOR". Yahoos like this company are destroying the market for serious film score enthusiasts by such a shoddy release.
