This CD is amazing, so well done...love the title track with Andrea Bocelli even though I have no clue what he is singing about...after a day at work, I slip this CD into my car's CD player and my frustrations melt away...lovely, lovely music...

This two disc set collects the best of four albums. "Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy" (Polydor 5536) was released in 1973. "Where Have I Known You Before" (Polydor 6509) reached #32 on the Billboard Album Chart in 1974. "No Mystery" (Polydor 6512) reached #39 in 1975, winning a Grammy. "Romantic Warrior" (Columbia 34076) reached #35 in 1976, and the entire album is included in this collection.

These tracks were remastered by Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke. "Vulcan Worlds" does not have the familiar echo ending, but other than that, the only noticeable change is that the sound quality is much better. It is far easier to hear all of the instruments, especially on the Polydor tracks.

"Kind of Blue" is described by people who know a lot more about jazz than I do as the definitive jazz CD. It and "Coltrane Plays the Blues" are my two favorites. Just can't beat Miles and the Trane.

Just put it in and leave it on the continuous play feature. It's that good.

Bringing Back the Funk

Great combination of funk and jazz. I especially like the Bootsy Collins cuts, Hollywood Swinging and The World Keeps Going Around. Some of the cuts are average, but the others are superior. Well worth listening to.

This is a great album that will give us two hits.
(Funky Bahia and also the remake of The look of love) Both of them are contagious songs.
I agree that some conservative folks are not going to like blending the old Sergio Mendes sound with Hip Hop , but I think the sounds is modern and great.
We can also find some more conservative Sergio Mendes songs on this album for the fans that are more atttracted to the 60's sound.
The beauty about this album is that can bring different generations to enjoy an album.
The cover of the CD is also great work.

I heard about this on Sunday Morning and they raved about Lizz so i thought I would try a CD.. I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful she sings. Lizz Wright has such a wonderful sound. MY ipod has LOTS of diffferent music (New and old, Country, pop, etc) and when a song of hers plays I put my ipod so I can hear all her songs I love it!

'So What' has always been my favourite and the way it has been improvised in this CD is just marvellous.

For fans of Shakti there is 'Miles from India' with jaming by the dynamic Shankar Mahadevan and the amiable John Maclauglin.

Truly amazing album in the league of Bitches Brew.
