When it came to the music scene in the 90's, there was more of a mix of rap & hip hop in America, where there was little to no soul. But, where England was developing into soul, they were much more on top of the scene, especially with the mixes of electronica, soul, and the birth of acid jazz. That helped the careers of acts like Soul II Soul, and great organic groups like The Brand New Heavies. Although they've been considered one hit wonders here in America, the group blended a unique mix of funk, R&B & soul within each of their songs, and that could be said well with this hits albums during their hay day in the U.K.

Hypnotic beats and lyrics with attitude. Think Public Enemy with British accents (via the Subcontinent) with Bollywood-esque sampling.

This double CD gives a good introduction to a group that tells it like it is in terms of the Asian experience in the UK. Some of the language may offend some listeners. Highly listenable and thought provoking.

Fun^da^mental put on a great live performance too!

If you like the musical smorgesboard of the sound and production of these multi-ethnic, pop-political rants, then pick up Transglobal Underground's "Yes Boss, Food Corner." BOTH groups, in my mind, are the BEST in driving, chanting, strangely harmonic and stunningly unique modern eastern world music!!!

The reviews were right, this CD is a copy of the original bnh CD with the same cuts in a different order. I wish I had bought the CD bnh made with some rappers instead. I am glad to have every possible bnh CD for I think they were one of the greatest un-known bands of the 90s. I have 7 bnh CDs and will buy at least one more.

This is a disappointment. I have tried several times, but this CD is not does not at all adress the listener. DJ Vadim can wake up a croud when alive, but this CD will most likely put you to sleep. Save your money and go to a club instead

More like 3.75 stars. Like most remix albums, you'll find some gems and some (relative) duds on here. But some sensational reworkings of Vadim's famous minimalism make this album a worthy purchase as long as you're prepared to hit the Next button every once in a while. But the best tracks are easily 5 star material, and may be worth the price alone. Some of the standout tracks are by Herbaliser, DJ Krush and Silent Poets.

The best hip hop today is being done outside the mainstream, by Michael Franti in San Francisco and MC Solaar in France. (I'll make an exception for the music from Hustle and Flow!) I first heard Michael Franti and MNC Solaar on the compilation, Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool. Spearhead did "Home," the best song I've heard on living in the shadow of AIDS. MC Solaar collaborated with jazz bassist Ron Carter on "Un Ange en Danger."

I remember jamming to the hip hop/reggae cuts anything for you(too bad the remix with beenie siegal and nadine sutherland wasn't featured on this) and sexy girl and I remember enjoying some other cuts on this album too but it's been so long that I can't remember all the songs and I've misplaced the CD
