For my first concert Blu-Ray, I picked this, and I feel pretty much any other concert film I see/buy will somehow always fail to live up to this experience.

Seriously. The combination of an amazing performance, vivid visuals and crystalline sound was, in a word, thrilling.

Let me get the technical stuff out of the way.

The Hi-Def picture is outstanding, only having a bit of difficulty during scenes lit in a certain hue of red. Otherwise, the "you are there" feeling is overwhelming. Faces in the crowd, dazzling light spectacles, certain glee-filled glances from Shakira...

NICE!! From a long time Cure fan: I'M happy with Freakshow. It isn't epic, but epic for The Cure is so much higher than most other bands. If this was a single from a random band, I would have given it an easy 5. I could have used two b-sides, but still, Freakshow is nice, light, quirky, and very very charming pop. The B-side, "All kinds of Stuff" is a more classic The Cure noise pop with roots from Disintegration (best album ever).

The Seldom Seen Kid

A friend of mine has been going on about Elbow for a few years. For some reason, I never managed to pick up one of their albums. Until this one.

So many adjectives come to mind while listening to this album. "Exquisite" is probably the most-repeated one. The album is filled with lush textures and perfect lyrics. The lead singer has a voice that covers a wide range of emotional territory. Likewise, the instruments on the album cover a wide range of musical territory. Altogether, the album is a cohesive one that makes me wonder how I've missed out on them for so long.

one of his best cds. I have them all and he just keeps getting better and better. one of the greatest voices ever. Still waiting for his English cd. Unfortunately I don't understand Spanish but I still love his songs especially the ballads.

I am too young to have lived during the golden age of 80s pop, but I still adore the brilliant music that came out during the era. These guys are unabashed in their love of this music. Unlike other bands like Chromeo, who sort of make fun of the music as they play, Cut Copy is trying to sound like exactly like a vintage album that came out in 1987 or some other glorious year. Their singer sounds like Billy Idol, and the electro elements bring Daft Punk's style to mind. If you don't like the 80s, run away, but I highly recommend it to you poor souls nonetheless.

Because of her family credentials, I had allwaays been somewhat worried about how her musical output would be (the daughter of Loudon Wainwright and McGarrigle...). The presence of Pete Townshend on guitar made me decide to make the plunge (as the price!) and I was most pleasantly surprised by the overall high quality of this record which is not as wrteched as some others have written. If you are familiar with his playing you will also eb able to quite well pick out Townshend's guitar playing. So, once again, I have been provne wrong and this is quite a good purchase.
