Glad another reviewer pointed out "Seu" is the equivolent to "Mr.", and here I was thinking it was a pretty cool first name. DOH!
Overall, the "Studio Sessions" album a very pleasant breath of fresh air. It shares a similar tone to Nick Drake's "Pink Moon", which is also another outstanding acoustic album. Like many, I was enchanted by the Jorge scenes in "Life Aquatic", which compelled me to check out the soundtrack. Was very glad to see he has a seperate album.
"Changes" and "Quicksand" (never knew it was a Bowie song, as I thought it was a Dinosaur Jr. original the whole time) are my fave tracks, or well, of the ones not already on the original movie score. Jorge's version of "Rebel Rebel" is so sultry...dream-like, ... Read More:

This is my second foray into Apocalyptica after the Metallica cover album. Unfortunately, the highlights of "World's Collide" are on the vocal tracks, and even those are only okay. "I'm Not Jesus" is a solid song (Corey Taylor is pure cash money everytime he opens his mouth), but it's also about pedophilia and the catholic church, so singing along is really out of the question. "I Don't Care" the other standout vocal track sounds unfinished.
Apocolyptica would do well to go the route of Carlos Santana and enlist vocalists to both sing and help write the songs. The songs written strictly by the band members run together and do not seperate themselves from other bands and are inferior to those that go for the atmospheric theme (Cradle ... Read More:

Lisa is such an important voice in CELTIC WOMAN...she will be missed when she leaves the group to be a full-time wife and mother. I wish her all the best and will love listening to her lovely voice on my CDs and DVDs.

I have not been able to buy a dance artist's CD that I could play from "START TO FINISH" without getting bored and wanting to change tracks at some point. This album is so brilliant that it's a MUST have for anyone's CD collection that can appreciate good beats and vocals with high energy!

Awsome album hands down. I really thought I was listening to George play and not John levin. Way sweet follow up to "Hell To Pay." This album actually reminds of "Dysfunctional," which was a more mature sounding Dokken but it still kept the flavor of the old school. "Lightning Stikes Again" should have been the follow up to "Dysfunctional." By far best album since then, it only took them about ten years but it finally paid off.

I bought this CD because of Ry Cooder. I've loved his music since first hearing on the soundtrack for "Paris Texas." I'm also very much into indigenous and ethnic music and am happy to have discovered Ali Farka Toure in this CD. Sometimes slow, sensual, hypnotic, and bluesy like the songs Amandria (my favorite) and Ai Du, and sometimes more rhythmic with a strong beat that you want to get up and dance to, the music on this CD grabs you every which way. Ali Farka Toure's rich voice also adds another dimension to the quality of this CD, on top of the music itself. And every song is top notch. It's rare for me to like every song on a CD, but I love every song. It doesn't disappoint on any level.

This is my first DeVotchKa cd, and at first I was extremely impressed. These are impeccable musicians with a lot of creativity, and they successfully combine many different styles of music. The only problem is the vocals.
Their lead singer sticks to one style of crooning, and after a while it gets very grating. In the future they would be better served by adding more variation to the vocals. I would love to hear them work with some guest vocalists, or maybe add another full time, female vocalist to the band.
Overall I recommend this cd, although the vocals are very limited and prevent the band from reaching their full potential.

Was dreading having to listen to kid music. This CD is amazing. I can't get the songs out of my head. Would highly recommend it!

I dont have any other way to express it. Sublime. Not only the selection of songs is amazing, but there is an atmosphere that I just cant remember having felt in any other concert. All this comes from somebody who, even recognizing Andrea is among the top singers in the world, is not a big fan.
The orchestra is magnificent to say the least.
Listening to DVD in DTS is an out of the world experience. Everybody should have a copy.

The Verve was a British band of the 1990's who have since broken up. On this CD we have 14 of the best Verve songs from their era of existence 1992-98. I really like this album and am awarding it 4.5 stars. I first heard of this band in June 1997 when staying in London, when their justly-famous and classic song Bittersweet Symphony made the UK top 5 . Even better was the achingly-beautiful yet despairing lament The Drugs Don't Work, which reached #1 on the UK chart in September 1997. I was working as a locum doctor in a psychiatric clinic at the time in Birmingham, England, and could really relate to the heartfelt pain that this song evokes, yet it has one of the most beautiful of melodies. Third song Lucky Man was also fantastic, as was the fourth song: Sonnet. All these ... Read More:
