"Center Stage" is the latest "piece of art" by the magnificent guitar virtuoso Tommy Emmanuel. All the executions and arrangements are amazing and never trivial. The sound quality is excellent, although "Center Stage" is a live recording.
The tracklist is enriched by unpublished songs as "The Finger Lakes" and traditional songs (Amazing Grace, Georgia On My Mind, House of the Risin' Sun). Some executions of Tommy's songs are impressive: "Initiation" (terrific) or "Mombasa". Tommy is a real "one-man-band" and in "Nine Pound Hammer" shows to be able to sing and play guitar at the same time incredibly well.
For the umpteenth time Tommy Emmanuel demonstrates to be already a "piece of hystory" of music.

Released Monday 30 June 2008 in the UK and 1 July 2008 in the USA, it boasts truly superlative remastered sound quality, an upgraded booklet and 2 bonus tracks for the first time - one of which is an entirely new song.

I love this soundtrack, it's very magical and fantastical in a very French way. I think especially the Valse comes off very parisien of the romantic era where they seem to be perma-stuck in the '50s. It's very jolly, tombe d'amour kinda stuff.

I was surprised by this CD. All I looked for was Celtic Thunder" and expected five men's voices and discovered a group from Baltimore, BALTIMORE?
This is a very interesting series of Irish songs, similar to what you might hear in the pub.

You will become addicted to this soundtrack. It actually surpasses the movie in that respect (although the movie is great too). I'm ready to start searching the cable channels or Netflix looking for these old Satyajit Ray movies.

The Jewish Songbook: The Heart & Humor of a People

The concept of this CD, produced by Brooks Arthur is a commendable one. He knows lots of folks in show business who are Jewish and decided that newly recorded versions of "Jewish" songs would be great. All but one of the 13 tracks on this (somewhat short at 44-minute length) were recorded in 2006 and 2007 by the artists. The lone "oldie" is "Avinu Malkeinu" by Barbra Streisand, which comes from her 1997 "Higher Ground" album.

The CD starts off great with The Manhattan Transfer performing a great swing version of "Utt Da Say" about a tailor making a dress. It had me tapping my feet immediately. Enjoyed this CD, not as much as Virgin Forest, but it's enjoyable and you can certainly appreciate Mr. Loueke's talent.
