I am a huge Gershwin fan. This cd is amazing and includes my two favorite Gershwin works: Rhapsody in Blue and Cuban Overture. I love dancing to this fun, upbeat music while driving or while cleaning.

I love piano music and had been looking for a good one for years. I bought this without knowing much about Erik Satie and I'm very happy. It's a great collection.

There are nineteen concertos in this collection, twelve of which are for one or more harpsichords. The remaining seven are concertos for various other instruments including violin, oboe, etc. A potential buyer should be aware that many of Bach's harpsichord concertos are re-arranged versions of these other concertos - and in some cases both versions are in this collection. For example, the three violin concertos (including the "double" concerto) are presented in both their original and harpsichord arrangements. Two oboe concertos, whose original versions have been lost, are reconstructed from harpsichord concertos that Bach arranged from those originals. Both the reconstructed oboe and harpsichord versions are in this set. So the listener should ... Read More:

Hello:
Allow me first to say I'm a Law Student and the substantial amount of reading I face with everyday it is sometimes impossible to acquire concentration for extended periods of time. I bought this CD a week ago and i must say this was a gift from God. I play the CD while I do my usual readings and I have noticed that not only i go through my readings faster, but also everything I read sticks with me (reducing the law school chiche of READ, RE-READ and READ AGAIN in order to understand the law), PLUS the music is BEAUTIFUL!!!. I will definitely recommennd this CD if you're a student, or a workaholic or simply you jsut want to enjoy the riches of delighting your ears to the magnificent sounds of classical music.

I heard nothing but wonderful things about this recording, and when I finally gave in and bought the CD, I have never been more let down. Both of these concerti are favorites of mine, and I have studied the scores for both quite intimately. I also have numerous recordings of these works, but none fall as short as this one. It is definitely at the bottom of the pile.
The only thing that sets this recording apart from all other Rach 3's out there is the speed. I will give Argerich this much: she has a lot of balls to play this monster at that break-neck speed, but she just doesn't have the hands. The only recording I can find that is faster than this is Rachmaninoff's own version of it, and he had mammoth hands that could handle his unbelievable tempi.

Chopin is the most famous composer for the piano. Did you know that Chopin is Polish and that he created the modern piano style! He also change the nature of the piano, making the piano what it is today. Mr. Chopin wrote over 200 pieces for the piano. Chopin is the true classical pioneer of the piano. As the CD says, Chopin kept the spirit of the Polish people alive through all the wars and invasions from Russia and Germany and others. Chopin was a gentle intellectual musician, and would help his beloved Poland with his music, as it has done to this day.
The story is mixed with his story and music. As you listen, you'll say, "I didn't know Chopin wrote that!" At the end of the story, some of Chopin's greatest pieces are played by Ingid Haebler; soooooooooo moving ... Read More:

If you love Sarah Chang, you can't go wrong with this one. Ditto if you love Carmen, Meditation from Thais, etc. There's that one track, Ravel's Tzigane, I can't develop a taste for no matter who plays it (except possibly David Oistrakh on You Tube, watching his chubby cheeks hit both sides of his face). And guess what? Placido Domingo didn't sing a note. (LOL)
