The more I learn about cooking the more I realize how superior her television show is compared to most cooking programs. Not only do the episodes hold up to those of today's chefs, she is a much better teacher than, I think, any of them. Her commentary as she works is just right. Some of her remarks just seem funny then when you cook the dish you realize there was a perfect instruction tucked in there. I learn more from watching her than any other chef; she is incredibly fast but seems to be taking her time to show the correct way to do things. And her explanations of "why" are priceless. There was quite a bit to be desired in this DVD (a proper warm-up, more repetition for dance steps, less name dropping) but I did like a few things (the style of the steps, the flow of the final set, high energy) so I gave it three stars. I just dance for fun in the morning so there may be more technical reasons for the whys and why-nots of this DVD...this is just an inexperienced persons view.

My husband bought this CD and we've taken a couple of long road trips where we will put it in and do the voice exercies. If nothing else, we enjoy doing the exercises and laughing together.
It's a good product. Some of the exercise seem silly. She doesn't always keep a good tempo. She usually says when she speeds up but not always. She seems off key at times. I find that it can be hard to listen to her voice for any long period of time.

My daughter (4yo) and her cousin (5yo) first "met" Mrs. Phipps and Snoothy when my mother bought a used copy of Learn to Read volume 1 at a yard sale. After seeing just a few minutes of it, my mother almost threw it away, thinking it seemed too boring and unsophisticated for a modern child. To her surprise, both my daughter (then 3) and her cousin (then 4) absolutely LOVED the video! Whenever they visited grandma they begged to watch the video, and often, when the video finished, they rewound it and started it again. And they would sing the alphabet song from the video over and over too (it's a catchy tune; unfortunately so, as I often find myself unable to get it out of my head).
