CD-Charts Music : For Emma, Forever Ago

For Emma, Forever Ago

CD-Charts > Music > Indie and Lo-Fi
by: Bon Iver

Release Date February 19, 2008
I had heard so much about this album before my boyfriend gave it to me to put on my ipod and listen to as he had gotten us tickets to go and see the live version, and this always puts me off - hence I wasn't expecting to love it but basically the reviews which are raving it are all 100% true.
It really is so painful and beautiful and so incredibly personal that it leaves me wondering how Vernon can sing the songs live without weeping. At the gig, he got everyone to sing "what might have been lost" over and over as a 'backing track', which he conducted to reach an amazing crescendo - I was moved to tears. Even more beautiful live, I didn't want to leave and now when I listen to the album on headphones I am transported back to that evening. ... Read More:

by: Fall Out Boy

Release Date May 06, 2003
This is my favorite of all of Fall Out Boy's music. The songs are great, and I just love it. I've loved it for about 3 years, and it isn't dying off, so that says something, huh? I got it after "From under the cork tree" came out, and I was not disappointed.

I purchased this soundtrack because during the movie I realized I really liked one of the songs. Turned out it was really the only good one on there. Not worth the money. Just download the few songs, if any, you enjoyed.

CD-Charts Music : Dear Science,

Dear Science,

CD-Charts > Music > Indie and Lo-Fi
by: TV on the Radio

Release Date September 23, 2008
I pride myself on not falling into the "it doesn't sound like their other stuff" line of criticism when it comes to drastic artistic change, and as TV on the Radio is one of my favorite bands currently in action I have second-guessed my initial off-putting reaction to this album at every turn. But after three and a half listens, I have to say I just can't get into it.

The mantra associated with this album is something along the lines of "experimental art-dance-rock at its best." It's clear the word "dance" was heavy on the band's collective mind while creating these songs. This introduces problem number one: a persistent feeling I can't shake from this record is that the "dance" aspect seems so, so forced. TVOTR's live show is decidedly ... Read More:

Struggle from the Subway to the Charts

CD-Charts > Music > Indie and Lo-Fi
by: Nuttin But Stringz

Release Date October 03, 2006
I first saw this group perform on America's Got Talent and was absolutely blown away. The talent of these two artists is incredible. Their ability to play the violin intertwined with a variety of music types is sheer genius. That said, the CD was a massive disappointment. The violin music takes a back seat to rap and in some songs the violin is barely audible. I hope they come out with another CD with more violin. Look for this group to take a prominant role in shaping the future of merging hip-hop and classical music. Nuttin But Stringz are men of genius and talent. The CD does not reflect their skills.

CD-Charts Music : Hot Fuss

Hot Fuss

CD-Charts > Music > Indie and Lo-Fi
by: The Killers

Release Date June 15, 2004
The Killers really suck, you know that? My reaction to most of this album is "These guys are irritating." And since I'm not really seeing any redeeming facets to Brandon Flowers' obnoxious voice or the group's style-over-substance sound, I can't go "These guys are irritating, but they can really play their instruments" or "These guys are irritating, but they've got a unique sound" or whatever. It's just "These guys are irritating." Here's what Hot Fuss is in a nutshell: an '80s pop album for a new generation. If I liked '80s pop, then I'd probably love this album as much as the rest of the world does. But I hate '80s pop with a screaming, searing, blinding passion. So I'm not exactly privy to the idea of the dancey, stylish synthesizer blips that show up all ... Read More:

The Reminder

by: Feist

Release Date May 01, 2007
I actually purchased this for a friend before I bought it for myself. I admit, I discovered her once I looked up that catchy song from the iPod commercials. I sampled the songs and didn't find them to be anything special- but once I listened to the entire CD, I fell in love with it. It's a feel good CD, and definitely a great CD to sing along with. My favorite song being "The Limit to Your Love."

by: Paramore

Release Date June 12, 2007
I honestly can't say one bad thing about this album or about the band themselves. Paramore has been one of my top favorite bands. A year later of listening to Riot and I'm still not tired of the songs yet. Hayley has such a strong voice and this is definitely their best CD yet. Highly recommended. Favorites include: Let the Flames Begin, Misery Business, Crushcrushcrush, and When It Rains.
