I totally get the feelings of disappointment that people may feel when initially hearing these songs. I mean, compared to "Santi" this album is a total detour from that darker rock sound into a blatantly simple shiny pop sound. At first, listening to the album made the band seem like they had regressed into a more generic pop style, but it makes a lot more sense when viewed as a concept album. It's really centered around that youthful high school time, which would, for most, entail simple lyrics with simple melodies. Great album, they really sound like they went in a different direction with this one but stuck to thier roots. With more powerful songs like, Warrior (a personal favorite of mine because it sounds like my life) "Cheated Hearts" but they still kept it fun with songs like "Way Out" my other favorite, "Honeybear", "Phenomena". I think they could've left out "Fancy" Though it was the most boring song on the album, since there is so much intensity coming from the them to slow down like that kinda threw me off. Buy this and support a seriously great up and coming band, they deserve it.

I'm new to this artist. Bought the record on a whim. God I'm lucky. This record moves me in ways very few artists have. Stark, earthy and redemptive. No screaming guitars. Get it.

I've written a few music reviews, and I've come to a great realization. They are useless! Everybody is the same when it comes to music. And that similarity is that no two people have the exact same taste. What we all write here should have no influence whatsoever on whether or not these guys are 'good.' Go sample them and decide for yourself! Personally, I like them. They are upbeat, have a british charm, and some humorous lyrics.

The story of my summer 2007 goes like this; I buy the new Rilo Kiley CD, "Under The Blacklight" after hearing it in an independent record store in Florida. My girlfriend and I love it so much we get copies for both our houses and both our cars. We play it for others. They all flip, all want it and get it. The CD becomes the new go-to for gifts (we all bought around 25 copies between us). Conversations become "what's your fave cut off the cd today?" or "Which song did you wake up with in your head that you can't shake?". I now have all of Rilo Kiley's music and all of Jenny Lewis'. Amazingly catchy, smart music.

I got cd for the song the Beast and the Harlot. That one songs rocks! Everthing else sound like soloest at boy's choir backed by a metal band. After a few listens is starts sounding the same. I am sure that the emo kids dig it. As metal head that I am I have heard better. Like the Priest, 3 Inches of Blood, or even Lillian Axe. If you are into real metal, I would pass this one by. As the saying gose NO FALSE METAL!

WHAT an exciting new star in the making, AGAIN! By now, if you're digging deeper into any Sam info, you already know the "tasty bits" ie; former child star, writing songs while at the coffeeshop, etc. But I'd like to add for this young man to SO deliciously re-energize The 80's 'Lectro-Disco-Pop sound so very well from his own writings - without 1 single sample or hook - I find just wonderful!! I've played & replayed my CD to everyone who'll give him a listen & all have come back with the same great feelings about Sam! I feel Sam will be around for MUCH time to come!! As long as his Management/Promotion Teams don't screw with this good thing! I can't wait to see Sam LIVE!! Instead of going in depth on each album and describe each album in detail, i'm going to simply rate each album with how many stars I feel each album is worth based on the below criteria.
