I've written a few music reviews, and I've come to a great realization. They are useless! Everybody is the same when it comes to music. And that similarity is that no two people have the exact same taste. What we all write here should have no influence whatsoever on whether or not these guys are 'good.' Go sample them and decide for yourself! Personally, I like them. They are upbeat, have a british charm, and some humorous lyrics.

I was not sure I would like this album at first, as I am an old fart, but after listening to clips on Amazon, I decided to try it. It was good enough that now, every time I get into my car, this is the CD that is playing. It is good music and brings back a lot of memories. Espeically like the songs about Curt Flood and Harvey Haddix

no one has a better ear for new bands then mac and laura from Merge, and no one from Canada has such an original inpact on my indie rock music than tne Arcade fire.

I like several songs on this CD--some are a bit "wild" or "overdone" for my taste. It took over a year since I first heard "Whistle For the Choir" before I was able to find it.

This may be, along with possibly David Bowie's "Station to Station" and Neil Young's "Tonight's the Night," the most terrifying masterpiece I have ever had the pleasure of being confronted with. Yes, what the fans say is true in my opinion, that this is a densely-layered, coherent thought layed out among eleven shorter (though no lesser) ones; and, to be accurate I am indeed a fan myself. Although I don't pretend to have heard all the incarnations "popular" music over the past 30 years, I do know this: Loveless, like any earnest and accurate expression of existence, is no less meaningless today than it was seventeen years ago. The blend of a prevailing major key alongside an urban sound density would make one assume that within this album there should ... Read More:

We should probably all bow down to Bill Perez as he is undoubtedly the all knowing god of all critics. Don't mind him, he just needs a hug.
Anyway, about the album. Its great stuff. Different. Trippy. Beautiful. Listen to some of their stuff first. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
I rated it 4 stars because it is MY PERSONAL OPINION. It just means its great but I like other things better.

Whilst frequently grouped with their contemporaries from the Pacific Northwest, the Chicagoan Smashing Pumpkins - both aesthetically and stylistically - never quite integrated into nor aspired to be part of the prevailing Grunge scene of the early-mid 90s. Alluding to their incongruity with regard to the grunge power base and its fans, one commentator aptly noted, "Nirvana were cooler, Soundgarden were heavier and Pearl Jam were sexier."
Although compiling a collection of the best of the Smashing Pumpkins' vast catalogue would appear at first to be a daunting task, the `Greatest Hits' tag guarantees that there are no real shock inclusions or exclusions on Rotten Apples.
The Rotten Apples disc showcases above all else the versatility and ambition of the Smashing ... Read More:

This soundtrack to I'm Not There is absolutely packed with music, featuring two CDs that are each 80 minutes long. I don't recall hearing many of these recordings in the movie itself, but that's not uncommon for a soundtrack these days. The songs were all written by Bob Dylan, as you are probably already aware. Most of these cover songs are quite good, although some are better than others. Of course, it's all a matter of personal preference, my favorites may be different from your favorites. Fittingly, Dylan himself gets the final word, with the previously unreleased title song (it was recorded at The Basement Tapes sessions). This is a fine collection of Dylan songs.

These guys are amazing. Groovy, fascinating, hip, psychedelic. I love all Rat's releases, but this is beyond those first two releases. LP3 is deeper, richer, still great to move your hips to. Beautiful.
