This is actually U2's BEST album...it is a scathing commentary on Europe and the world...the musicality of it is top-notch, the experimentation meshed well together, and the topicality of it still rings true to this day as Europe continues to slide into oblivion (partying the night away as Islam gathers strength in the heart of Europe), even as they appear so wonderful and united on the surface...oh, and the WANDERER is the PERFECT song to cap this album, a condemnation...Mr. Cash (and by proxy, the people of the United States) hits the nail on the head with a SLEDGEHAMMER...this album sounds better today than it did when it came out 15 (fifteen!) years ago...most people then were not ready for ZOOROPA and many still are not...the title track, ... Great album. They really should have included Give Me One Good Reason, though. Thats probably their best song. Adam's Song is the best song on this album definetly. I wish they were still together.

I found Cobra Starship when they came up on my Pandora Radio station a couple years ago. They were fun and catchy. So after I started singing along with at least three of their songs, I picked up the album. I like it, and I still pop it in once in a while. It was far from a profound music experience - just light fun.
Then this album came out, and I hesitated after hearing the previews, but I bought it anyways. Unfortunately, it feels like one of those albums where they took all the songs they cut from the first album and threw it onto the second just to make a quick buck. For a sophomore album, it sure sounds like an amateur effort. Very disappointing. I'm surprised the producer even let this through. The attempt at retro-funk comes off sounding ... Read More:

What's up with that band name really? Oh well... It's not like YYY's is a band that sounds like they have invented the deep plate. But what they do, they'll do pretty damn good. Each of the band members are gifted, and then I can forgive that they maybe/maybe not carry a "secret member".
A decent album for party, or relaxing or whatever...

Come here young lass, let me prop you up on me knee, and tell you of Joy Division, a band that lacked that mushy-gushy ecstasy. I will play you songs of singer/lyricist Ian Curtis' depressive ills, and you will find that this doom-laded group from the 1970's Manchester, England scene had a frothy venom to all those that have ever betrayed. "Unknown Pleasures" will make your heart break open and bleed from its opening cry of, "I've been waiting for the guide to come and take me by the hand," (from "Disorder.") This sound helped lay the groundwork for Goth Rock and the Post-Punk genres, and is intentionally vapid and monotonic, attempting to sail a sea of shattered fantasies through a current of disdain. Miss-stepping and never diving into a sea of murky boredom, the album ... Read More:

As one of the reviewers mentioned the first song people recognize from Jimmy Eat World was the song The Middle. Well at least for me it was the first song I heard of them and since I really liked the song I purchased the cd of course. Of course The Middle is a really good song but the best song on the cd is the very first song Bleed American. The lyric from the song you can relate to with "I'm not crazy because I take the right pills, everday."
I know I'm bad when I buy a cd I don't like listening to a band over and over again because I like variety. Jimmy Eat World is a band that you can definitely listen to the whole cd of because hey provide that variety with an amazing sound and great lyrics.

Punk...with musicianship? Strange combination, but one that I like. Front to back, Social Distortion is a strong offering, chock full of attitude (the songs just sound like they're sneering at you with contempt). It also has a bit of a rockabilly flair to it that adds another dimension to the band's sound and gives the album some variety. Good stuff!
