Thank the geekish rock gods for this one. The Blue Album: Amazing. Pinkerton: Amazing. We all know what happened after that... Dispite some very good individual tracks on The Green Album and Maladroit, they clearly didn't showcase what Weezer could do (I really liked both cd's, to be honest). Make Believe really re-raised the bar, with great tracks like, Perfect Situation(one of my favorites), Hold Me, and We are all on drugs. The second half of the cd is a little weaker, but still catchy. If you dont have this, get it. If you're one of those "Hey I only like Pinkerton and the Blue album fans", get over it. Those two are amazing, hands down the best Wezzer has to offer, but those days are over. We might still blow our car speekers to them, but ... Read More:

It's so passe to give favorite reviews glowing reviews - it seems that if an album is beloved, it deserves some kind of classic status.
With Rocket to Russia, the Ramones earn this album's classic status from the first groove. This captures the humor of their first LP and melds it with punk cum Beach Boys feel. Their sound is completely original, but warmly familiar, and all of the tunes are written rightly and cleverly. This isn't hardcore, but it certainly seemed hardcore when it was released (not even Saturday Night Live would touch them), and it's completely unpretentious. Even people who weren't initially fond of the Ramones have slowly come to appreciate their special genius - and Rocket to Russia captures that genius as well as any ... Read More:

It's The Who. Live. At Leeds University. Duh. How come you haven't bought it already? Powerful live set from seminal rock four-piece, blah, blah, sizzling energy, innovative songwriting, blah blah....Keith Moon....buy it. Listen to it. Have mind blown.

Good compilation of songs is what offers this CD. You will not be upset with it. There are songs that thrill me whenever I listen to them. This CD is not a masterpiece but it's worth being listened.

After the mediocre "Ruin Jonny's Bar Mitzvah" and the slightly better "Love Their Country", I was starting to think that the Gimme Gimme's had lost their touch. I am happy to say that I was wrong because " Have Another Ball!" is a great CD. The only tracks that aren't good are the terrible "Sodomy" and the so-so "The Harder They Come". I only hope their next release is this good.

I don't usually like many greatest hits cds because many artists tend to leave out my favorite songs, but I love No Doubt's The Singles 92-03. Each song from this retrospective is excellent and reminds me of certain times when that song was a hit. Tracks from Tragic Kingdom takes me back to middle school while songs from Rock Steady reminds me of senior year. I'm not a big No Doubt fan (I only have Tragic Kingdom) but this is hands down, one of favorite albums of all time.

I listened to "Horse" a couple of times after having heard music by Ms. Smith that I found dynamic and emotionally moving. I had also heard rave critiques and was very interested in hearing what many consider to be her best work. The words that come to mind are self absorbed and pretentious, and in large part musically lame. Enjoy it if you enjoy it: perhaps you had to be there at the time of its inception to truly appreciate it. As far as I am concerned this piece falls far short of its mark, and the praise that has been heaped upon it.

David Bowie has had various watershed albums, I think 'Low' is one of them. It has to be said that at the time of release it was not received as well as previous works - his label being disinterested in sufficiently marketing it must have definitely contributed to the situation, forcing him to change contracts. It was a difficult period for Bowie, living a year in LA, alienated, troubled with drugs. 'Low' is a powerful result of that mid 70's era finding Bowie as always, willing to experiment with new ideas, to twist the expected. Together with Brian Eno he produced a David Bowie masterpiece which I for one still find exasperating considering the period it was done in and its context amongst other contemporaneous music being produced and retailed by major artists and labels. ... I stumbled upon this the other day and of course grabbed it up. This is a great collection and well worth having, especially for existing fans of the band.
I gave it 4 stars because 1) it could have had another half dozen songs on it, 2) some of their best were left off and some that were included weren't their best, and 3) some of the songs are not the original recorded versions and this should have been disclosed up front.
That said, I think it's GREAT that they have included alternate recorded versions on this disk! They are closer to well recorded demos than fully polished studio cuts, but that's a cool thing in my book. They are well done but fairly bare bones - the real band without a lot of studio fakery & polishing. VERY cool. I'm more interested ... Read More:
