A thousand reviews? I only can echo the majority. This is simply another masterpiece from the greatest band that ever cut a record. These four were in a class by themselves. The Beatles and then there were all the others. Abbey Road blew everyone away when it came out and still is an experience and not just a set of songs put together for listening to while you run the vacumn cleaner. I always think of some of the assertions that have been made about Shakespeare when I take in the entire catlog of the Beatles. It seems impossible that one small rock combo could come together and create art the way they did the same way that so many people can't imagine one person writing as many classics as Shakespeare did. i originally bought the hypnotize album, but i ended up with this one in the hypnotize case.however this album is worth buying.the best songs are: revenga, b.y.o.b., question, sad statue, and lost in hollywood. it's probably just as good as hypnotize.

This is my first Paul Gilbert cd, so I didn't know what to expect before I bought it. Based on the reviews here, I bought it sound unheard. Overall, I am not disappointed. Mr. Gilbert is an incredible technician and a generally superior song writer. If you like Marty Friedman, Satriani, Vai, Eric Johnson, Vinnie Moore, Eddie Van Halen, Rush, Jeff Beck, Joey Tafolla, and George Lynch, you'll like this CD because it has shades of them all. Which makes this a unique CD among instrumental guitar rock/shred albums. Lots of rock musical influences seem to have been put on display here--almost as if Gilbert were paying tribute--and blended in an original, highly skillful way. I bought this album a couple weeks after it came out. Left behind was decent, and I was really into the new metal fad going on at the time. Since then, I've gotten into black metal, death metal, deathcore, and pretty much any type of metal you can imagine. From someone who listens to it all, I have to say that first off, this can not at all be classified as numetal, secondly, I think it's probably the best album they ever did. They just wanted to put something out that was brutal and violent, and I think they did a pretty good job. Again, I'm just stating what is my opinion and hope no one thinks that I'm trying to convince people to buy it.

.....not a METAL album, but a ROCK album.

Problem with a lot of hardcore metalheads is that they can't venture out of their narrow views, and I say that as someone who has been a Metal fan for many years, but not ONLY a metal fan.

The album is a bit too long, some more quality control could have been exercised and it would have been a 5-star 60-minute album.

No, it's no Master of Puppets, but it's not meant to be !
