3 Doors Down's 2000 debut "The Better Life" is an appealing album from a band that exudes a lot of potential. While they don't really distance themselves from familiar sounds of lots of 90s alternative rock, they display some good songwriting and instrumental talent. Singer and drummer Brad Arnold speaks of anger, depression, and troubles in life, but his delivery and raw emotion set him apart. Musically, their sound is unrefined rock, often pretty hard. The heavy guitars and rough percussion are tough, yet the songwriting is clever enough to put them to effective use. There are some well-constructed pop songs here, as well as some deep-album tracks that are equally worthy. The songwriting is not consistent to the point that every track is as ... Read More:

There is not one rock artist over the last 30 years that can match Mellencamp pound for pound when it comes to devising short, punchy true rock and roll singles. Many casual fans will find it hard to believe that the guy who did "Jack And Diane," "Hurts So Good," and "Pink Houses" actually had enough great ideas to fill up two cds of 37 songs. Here is the surprise..He absolutely does!!! There are very few better "Greatest Hits" collections on the market and this captures all of his greatest moments up until 2004. In addition to 35 proven classics, Mellencamp also included two (at the time) new songs that are exclusive to this release. Both of those songs, "Walk Tall" and "Thank You" hold up very well against the older material and although they ... Read More:

In my opinion, the greatest MTV Unplugged album ever. They proved that they were more than just a grunge band, and Cobain brought his pain briefly to the surface.
Release Date November 20, 2007
The show is stunning. Specially if you forgot about it and you haven't watched it years. Some stuff you'll notice and love are: of course the uncut broadcast, there's also differnet camara angles for a lot of shots and views that are new to everybody that is used to MTV original broadcast. The new audio mastering sounds just incredible.
Bonus features include practice sessions for a bunch of songs. All of them are intersting to watch because you can see band members fool around (specially Dave and Pat Smear.)
There is also an interivew bonus section, nothing out of this world.
Since the audio was not edited for this DVD, you can hear Kurt messing up the lyrics of the song Lake of Fire.
I was used to the original broadcast and so, ... Read More:

I bought this because I like the band Jet Black Stare and it was recommended by Amazon. Also that they were selling a combo pack of JBS and RT for $13.99. I did sample "Hell Yeah" and thought it rocked! The rest of the cd is very good too. I listen to it daily. Other good songs include: "My favorite disease", "Light it up", and "Kill the headlights".

yaknow to all that use their brains can easily see why Nirvana was so great.
they embody everything a great rock band should have. amazing front man with amazing song writing abillities, an amazing drummer and a sound all their own that didnt suck!
this is a brash Cd with harsh tones with catchy songs that stick in your head with great lyrics.
Release Date July 31, 2007
Everything about this CD is amazing. It brings back the good parts that metal has lost over the past few years. It has a head banging rhythm, and strong lyrics. And you can understand the lyrics not jus screaming. It's got everything from the full of hate fast song (the way of the fist) to the emotion sparking soft sound of the bleeding. If you loved classic Pantera this is a CD you should for sure buy.
Release Date April 29, 2008
It's like The Gathering meets The Legacy, or perhaps what the Gathering would have been with Alex Skolnick.
Either way this album thrashes like mad and puts the bands talent to full use.
The Henchmen Ride and More Than Meet The Eye are certainly not only among the best from Testament ever, but the best songs in the thrash metal genre to date.

When people talk about progressive rock being dull and dated and pretentious, they surely can't be thinking of Aqualung. Jethro Tull's gospel-weary opus may be full of flute solos and lyrics about man's relationship to God, but it still rocks more righteously than anything Guns `N' Roses ever did. There's not a Moog synthesizer or an extended suite to be found (except for the title track, and it's not really all that extended), and pyrotechnical displays of instrumental prowess are kept to a tasteful minimum. Classical influences share space with strains of blues, folk, and a bit of gospel. The lyrics, even when they become abstract, make sense more often than not, and they're almost always poignant. The band even insists that it isn't a concept album, and sometimes it seems ... Read More:
