Much better than the soundtrack live album from Ziggy Stardust The motion Picture, the band sounds raw and rocking. Mick Ronson was brilliant of course. I used to have the widely available bootleg of this on LP. This package comes with some great pictures and notes in a box and of course sounds much better than my well-worn record.

Boston in my opinion is one of the best bands of all time and their newly remastered first album is no different. With classics Like More Then a Feeling, Peace of Mind, and Rock and Roll Band I find it hard to believe that someone could not enjoy this music. I like how also the cover booklet contains history and facts about Boston.

A clinical and seminal meditation on alienation, popularity-seeking, and the decline of Western man encased in a rock opera about a handicapped boy. Albert Einstein spoke of his own "retarded" youth, being withdrawn from the world, and how that aided him in opening new vistas in science. "Tommy" isn't so fortunate.
"Amazing Journey" shows the advantage of Tommy's "retardation" yet shadows of "normalcy" lurk. Pete Townshend's medicinal lyrics bring to mind the Christian sentiment that only one with a child's disposition can enter the Kingdom of G-d.

Good To Be Bad

I'm pretty impressed by the way these songs sound. David Coverdale can still sing like it was 20 years ago and he found musicians that sound as if they were on the Whitesnake and Slide it In albums. My only disappointment would be the lyrics. He tends to repeat the same versus over and over as if filling the songs. But the catchy riffs and rythym section make up for it. I was surprised to find that my CD had a bonus live CD attached that contained some old Deep Purple tracks too. If like classic Whitesnake, go get this!

The "Born" CDs were what made the Boss' legend. Those were the ones you'd hear on the radio no end back in the day. I admit, I prefer "Born to Run" over "Born in the USA".

This is a great early day Bruce CD and I think still a must for any Boss fan. My favorites:

Tremendous guitar work and a lot of music for 3 people. Boothill and I Smell Trouble are just amazing. That's the only word that comes to mind.
The slide work is also fantastic and I'm talking, all of it. Especially Highway 61 Revisited. However, Mojo Boogie and Stranger Blues aren't anything to laugh at and, the Robert Johnson acoustic blues, Stones In My Pathway is extremely unique for this day and age. How any blues guitarists do you know play a National Standard Steel??? And, with such proficiency. On a scale of one to ten, this CD is a twelve!!!
