This is background music, not a symphony, soundtrack, or goth music. FYI - it's EXTREMELY repetitive at times and often the synths sound too much like synths, but it's really made for haunted houses, Halloween parties, and the occassional satanic orgy, not for listening to on your ipod. Nearly every review (good and bad) has been accurate in that regard.
If you want something soundtrack oriented but more dynamic or musically interesting, get the Nox Arcana albums, or if you want vocals, Nightwish. They're mildly similar, but much livelier.
That said, it's very good at what it does - dark background/elevator music for the dentist's chair in hell (or your attraction or party).

The Cult seem to still have a name for themselves and haven't been forgotten by rock fans, even though they broke up in 1995. Their songs are still on the air. Pure Cult:The Singles is a greatest hits compilation of of the band's biggest and best singles throughout those years. Who doesn't remember the emotional "Fire Woman" or the hard-hitting rockin' tune "Love Removal Machine"? I used to dance to that song many of times hanging out in the clubs.
Singer Ian Astbury's voice is very energetic and has an intense emotion all on it's own -- he wails and screams from song to song. The band's style was rock n roll, but in a slightly electronic new wave style. The album also features the songs:"She Sells Sanctuary" filled with loud rock ... Read More:

This band is average. If you think any different you are a loser. Every album sounds the same. I own all the original albums. I would never see this band live, but I like some of their studio albums. I think this is the last album I buy from them. They all sound the same. Their best album I think is 2001. Love that album. Very pop sounding with Arron Lewis on vocals for a song. This album isn't bad, but it's more of the same. I thought it would be better given some of the guests on it.

I liked this DVD, especially the bonus features which are some videos I really like.
I let my friend borrow the DVD, he's got it right now and asked if he could hold onto it longer, which I granted.
I want to get all the NIN DVD's I can get my hands on and I have no regrets about buying this one, just make sure you dont get a DVD that say's Blu-Ray unless you have a Blu-Ray player.
I liked the Live performance of Hurt it's just Trent and the keyboard for most of the song.

There are some good songs on this CD and some what I would call "fluff". Take a Picture is probably the weakest of songs on the CD and I know that will be an unpopular stance, but it is definitely not representative of the entire album. For me the song that stands out the most is Skinny. It has the soft intro and verses that lead into a rocking chorus. This song, and many of the others are equal too or better than Hey Man Nice Shot, which should be expected of a follow-up album if the band has talent. I enjoy this album immensely.

Machine Head have had a bit of an up-and-down career, with a few missteps along the way, but when they're firing on all cylinders, you better get out of their way. Leader and vocalist Robb Flynn, possibility the angriest metaller out there right now, is a superb songwriter, which is too often overlooked in metal circles, with many outfits getting attention with unimaginative repetitive riffs and singers who sound like they're suffering from a bad case of irritable bowel syndrome.
Flynn does his share of growling, but also provides clear vocals and harmonies, which add the one element modern metal needs the most, dynamics. Not that "The Blackening" is a wimped out affair. This slab is heavy - like the Titanic sinking in your living room heavy. ... Read More:

The songs themselves are as good as everyone says, however, there's a major problem with the mastering on this collection! Some songs (e.g., "Close to Me") are so soft that I have to crank up the volume on my headphones to make out the words, and then when louder songs come on (e.g., "Friday I'm in Love"), my ears get blasted and I have to rush to turn it back down again. Not a fun listening experience, despite the brilliant tunes! I'd be interested to hear if people buying the CD version have the same problem or if it's just the mp3 album.

Down is one of my all time favorites and I have listened to the first two albums countless times. Unfortunately, I feel like Over the Under is just a weak album. The mixing on this album is horrible and the studio staff should be ashamed. I also found most of the songs to be boring and uninspired. With there first two albums, every song was its own entity, but with this one it just doesn't do anything for me. It is still worth a listen, but it is not worth the praise that most have given it here on Amazon.

I'm a huge AFI fan. I've got all their full length albums and almost all of them see heavy rotation in my stereo/CD player. All of them except this one, which might be their worst. It's not so much that it's a bad CD (it's actually kind of okay), it's just that it can't hold a candle to some of their other work.
The biggest problem with this album is how detached it sounds. Maybe they're doing it intentionally (december...cold, you know) but I really don't like this sound as much as I like their older albums. Even StS was more warm and inviting. Their even older albums are even more so, with this gritty sort of "this is what we'd sound like in our garage, if only you could be there" kind of sound. But decemberunderground doesn't have that. It's too clean, ... Read More:
