This may not mean much to those who have only gotten the US releases. But to those of us who used to buy imports just so we could listen to the fantastic band known as Within Temptation before they came stateside, this particular album may have had a black sheep reputation.
When this album was available by import only, there used to be an annoying copy protection. This made it so the only way we could listen to this album on our computer or MP3 players was to install an unwanted player (having been stung myself by Sony's infamous rootkit virus fiasco, I'm hesitant to install any such thing from cd's anymore). Even then, what we got on the computer were inferior digital copies of the songs.

This is not music, its just a bunch of talking, ranting, noise, ect...you get the picture. I change the station on the radio every time Serj's or SOAD's complete and utter garbage comes on. One of the lamest excuse for music in the history of rock.

This is the first Nightwish album to be released after the public firing of former vocalist Tarja Turrunen. Although Tarja will be sorely missed, it is time we give our full attention to the new vocalist, Annette Olzon. Though the rabid Tarja fans out there still refuse to give Annette a chance, I found myself quite impressed with her, and am looking forward to hearing more from her in the future.
The first thing you'll notice is the difference in their vocal styles. Annette has more of a soulful rocker approach, as oppossed to Tarja's beautiful soprano. Though Tarja definately has more range, Annette has a lot of enthusiasm and energy that's hard not to like. Her vocals are reminiscant of a storyteller, which is very approapriate for a ... I've been listening to Rammstein for years now.
Lately they've adopted the over-simplified 'Hate America' jingoism so popular in Europe and the intelligentsia press, but that doesn't mean their earlier music wasn't absorbing and fresh.
This is metal meant to be listened to with an edge, and I find putting 2,000 watts into it produces the intended effect. Believe me, Rammstein wasn't made for your 20 watt car stereo.
If you want to get going, and metal helps you go there, here's where you need to go.

Richard Patrick has created an anthem for the 21st century from the ashes of the sixties. This is the first album oriented protest album of our times(unless you know of another). He does this with his lyrics and passion for whats going on in this world right now. For the fans that poo poo this CD as a light hearted Filter effort I say you haven't really listened to it. Its all of what Filter is and more, the songs are hard and melodic with a simple message that if we don't wake up as a country we will continue down the rabbit hole of dispair. Wake up people, this is a brilliant themed album that continues in the Filter tradition of hard rock but with a deep message. We all should take heed becuase if we don't we will all be an Anthem for the Damned.

Wow. Wow. Wow. I am Enedelia's 13 year old daughter. I was stupid enough not to get this album as my first Nox Arcana CD. I was lucky to get the remastered version of this CD. It sounds stunning! I can't tell you how impressed I was by this album. This whole album reminded me somewhat of the story of Dark Shadows. From the first few seconds of the first track, I felt in a completely different realm.
Legend- The sound of wind starts this piece. Some low pitched gentle and elegant strings then enter. Joseph Vargo speaks in this piece with the following narration: "Along a dark, forsaken road, there stands a stark and grim abode. An old manor house looms black and tall, to cast a grave and deathly pall. Beyond the ancient-wrought iron gate, a thousand ... Read More:

Evolutionary principle pretty much presupposes that each stage in development will link up to the next and so on and so forth until development takes place. Hence the concept of missing links. And here is the Nightwish not so missing link. The album that seemed to promise more than the previous couple of studio efforts yet seemed to have dreams larger than those it could fulfill. There is no doubt that there is talent all over the place here. The title track and Beauty and the Beast are two good example of this ability to pen good music. The tune Feel For You (which the band never rated as one of the best on the album strangely) shows the group continuing to throw in a few numbers with male counterpoint vocals - this time courtesy of new guy Mr Hietala.

the cure's singles and best known melodic songs burn with passion and sheer genius.
It would be hard not to lose oneself in a glowing review.... however, that said, whoever came up with the following review quote, has managed to plumb the depth of the barrel of idiocy, and lose a piece of very relevant clarity:
"But for the rest of us who actually appreciate melodies as long as they aren't too commercialized"
If anyone anywhere can ascribe any sort of rational logical meaning to this gibberish, please write to the following people:
the authors of
here, there and everywhere (mccartney, i presume)

lovesong (mr. smith again)
