It's fantastic. I orginially had this recording years ago on a 33rpm record, and like a fool got rid of it. I got it as a replacement on a CD format and its the way I always remembered it.

I've been a Rilo Kiley fan since 2003, and like someone else had said, I wanted to like this album. I really did. I thought Rabbit Fur Coat was pretty good, but this was a real disappointment. There are a lot of hipster kids who will say that this album is genius, and I really question whether they would listen to something like this if it wasn't Jenny Lewis. I'm leaning more towards no, they wouldn't. I saw her a few times on her 2006 solo tour, and "Carpetbaggers" and "Acid Tongue" were fantastic, but the studio versions disappointed me. Elvis Costello sounds out of place on "Carpetbaggers" and the backing/chorus vocals on "Acid Tongue" stick out too much and take away from what would otherwise be a flawless song. This CD is awsome for teens with great songs from a teen band called "The Jonas Brothers" my 13 year old daughter Emma just loves it. It comes with songs that every one will love and makes a excellent gift. All of Emma's friends now want this CD and enjoy coming over and listening to it. So buy this CD and prepare to be blowen away.

Randy Newman is the most astute songwriter and thinker when it comes to social commentary. Not everyone "gets" him, but I crave his voice and his original songs. I have listened to this amazing album over and over, especially the song "A Few Words in Defense of Our Country." Truly, he has "heard America singing."

When I heard that Arista was releasing a "best of" disc I wondered just one thing.....why? I own all of her studio and live releases and every CD single and promo release that's been issued. When I saw the track listing for the 2-disc set of this new hits collection I immediately decided to purchase it. I based my decision on the fact that remastered versions of I Will Remember You and the radio remix of Hold On would be on the second disc. Elated on the day of it's release, I go out and make my purchase at Best Buy only to find that the track "Hold On (Radio Remix)" is NOT in fact the remix. It's just a repeat of the album version found on disc one. I know this because I have the Tom Lord-Alge remix on an older promo CD single of lesser sound quality. ... Read More:

The Music = 5 stars ABSOLUTELY; the marketing scheme = NEGATIVE stars! I can't believe anyone would fall for purchasing the Deluxe Edition. I would have gladly paid $30 or even $40 for all three discs but there's no way I'd shell out this kind of money for one extra bonus disc and a book that's a curiousity at best. Don't waste your money - go out and buy the 2 disc version and wait for the third disc to be sold digitally or something. Heck, as someone else said they'll probably release a less expensive version with the bonus disc at some point or another.

I thoroughly enjoyed "Live In Gdansk" and I'm recommending to everyone..Though he released another show from this tour about a year or so ago this one holds up. Its also the last we'll see of the great Richard Wright who passed away just days before "..Gdansk" was released. The song selection is a bit different from the previous disc also.

At first I thought the parts stronger than the sum. In other words, each song had elements that were captivating both lyrically and melodically but the songs as a whole didn't seem to work. Then at some point after repeated listens, everything started to bake into the cake it was meant to be. Now I can't get the damn thing of out the CD player and consequently out of my head. The band is a strange mix of all that has come before it, weather it be CSN, Beach Boys, Appalachia, and even some sort of strange nod to 50's white bread harmonies, a la the Fleetwoods. Whatever it is, it is totally captivating. I love having a favorite CD, and this year it will be Fleet Foxes.
