Last Days At the Lodge

On his new album Last Days at the Lodge, Amos Lee plays it all close to the chest. The melodies sound familiar, the lyrics sound familiar, and it all sounds like Lee is only half-interested in the songs he's singing. Many of the songs just sound tired and old hat. There are some exceptions, and his voice is still magnificent. I personally liked the songs Won't Let Me Go, and Kid, which is simple but inspiring. Overall, however, the album left me wanting more and missing his previous album, Supply and Demand.

This is my favorite of all of Fall Out Boy's music. The songs are great, and I just love it. I've loved it for about 3 years, and it isn't dying off, so that says something, huh? I got it after "From under the cork tree" came out, and I was not disappointed.

This Grateful Dead simply is some of the best to come out of The Vault. The band is tight and smooth, perfect in all aspects. I have all the Dick's Picks and other live releases, this stuff really stands out. The Road Trips 1978 show that was played at Winterland a few days later is smokin too. This is a must for the Deadhead. Keep jamming America.

I was given this album as a gift three years ago and while it was new to me I immediately noticed that the lead vocalist had no idea of how to break away from singing very "clunkily" in syllables...to every song!!!
I haven't read all the reviews to this album (would take days) but wonder if he annoys anyone else as much as he annoys me?

i warn you, i'm in love with this album so my review might not be objective or even constructive at all...

I discovered the pink floyd with "the wall". I was 15 and i was very curious so i end buying this album without knowing the band at all.
When my father discovered i enjoyed this cd he was very delighted and he showed me his all collection of records: of course "Wish you were here" was his favorite and as soon as i listened to it i was deeply in love with it too.



i think that to listen to this cd you just need to be free of all opinion. to enjoy it you need to be open minded and accept what is strange and new. you must not be afraid to loose you either.

Yup, like every other band out there, OAR's sound is evolving. Same as "In Between Now and Then" had a very different sound from "Souls Aflame", this one has a very different sound from either. What's unmistakably OAR, however, is the band's writing. Anybody who was dissapointed that "Stories of a Stranger" included so few OAR originals is going to LOVE this one. Thirteen OAR songs, all brand new!
I'm listening to this one, start to finish without skipping over anything, over and over....and over....and over....

Quite often when I buy a new cd it will take me more than a day to get through. There's couple reasons for that. 1. I'm too busy to listen to it straight though. 2. Some songs just really turn me off to it. This album however was the complete opposite... I ran to my room and listened to it straight through 2 times. Each song intriguing me. I'd have to say my least favorite song would have to be Beating My Heart, but that's not to say I don't like it. However I find with many albums, the truly good songs are the unreleased ones. My personnal favorite is Four Years followed closely by Dance Your Life Away. Four Years made me cry the first time I listened to it. It's had the same effect on a lot of my friends. Sounding like a concert, The Dropkick Murphys power through another mix of new and traditional Celtic flavored tunes. The emphasis here is on the personal as tales of triumph and courage are the mainstays; all pulled off with the Murphys typical bravado. Particularly clever is "Wicked Sensitive Crew" that has some fun with the whole idea of this punk band becoming "touchy-feely." It's nice to hear the band actually sing on songs like "The Burden"and Eric Bogle's beautiful "The Green Fields of France." because occasionally all the yelling can become grating, but you can't deny the energy. Woody Guthrie's "I'm Shipping up to Boston gets the Murphy treatment and is transformed into a pounding rocker and the closer of the Red Sox anthem "Tessie" seems ... Read More:

I pride myself on not falling into the "it doesn't sound like their other stuff" line of criticism when it comes to drastic artistic change, and as TV on the Radio is one of my favorite bands currently in action I have second-guessed my initial off-putting reaction to this album at every turn. But after three and a half listens, I have to say I just can't get into it.

The mantra associated with this album is something along the lines of "experimental art-dance-rock at its best." It's clear the word "dance" was heavy on the band's collective mind while creating these songs.
