Been a Jack Johnson fan for a few years now, his stuff is great. Makes you want to kick back on the beach with a chair, an umbrella, and possibly an adult beverage and let the worries of the world slip away!

Well, I am truly torn on this album. Such wonderful Musicianship, instrumental players, vocal prowess. So unfortunately rare these days.
Makes me WANT to love this album more than any other recent release.
Unfortunately the recording quality is so poor it is difficult for me to enjoy the listening experience. Whoever was at the controls of the board during the sessions and mastering needs an immediate hearing test, or at the least a eye exam, because most of the tracks are so horribly saturated. especially bad is the 3rd track "Without You" where the vocals are grainy, the bass is saturated, the sound of the drums makes one cringe. The background vocals are all recorded too hot, and the organ and Fender Rhodes, oh my. Then to make ... Read More:

My brother was the one who introduced me to Feist. He followed Leslie Feist's work with Broken Social Scene, admiring her musical talent and willingness to experiment. He started putting songs from Let It Die onto mix CDs for me. I loved the music; it was unlike anything I had ever heard before yet strangely nostalgic. A few months after becoming acquainted with "Mushaboom" and "Secret Heart," I learned that she was going to release a new CD- Feist-The Reminder. I anticipated this CD so much that I bought the first copy I came across without bothering to look at the price. I waited a little while to listen to it; I'm always wary when experiencing new music- I like to sample it first. Eventually, I popped the CD into my player and started ... Read More:

This 1975 album is a favorite of mine by Pink Floyd for any number of reasons; the band was in top form, the tracks are very imaginative and on a more personal note, my Pink Floyd obsessed (high school) graduating class selected the track Wish you Were Here to accompany the graduation procession. As I recall, I had suggested Welcome to the Machine...
As far as the overall mood of the album goes, it is very somber and spacey synthesizer washes along with a plodding, 4/4 meter dominate. The real magic of the album however, is the clever layering of a seemingly endless parade of synthesizer, guitar and percussion parts. As such, the music hold my interest even when not much is going on, which is very rare I might add.

Never met a John Hiatt album I didn't like, but this one is cream of the crop.
For me 'Walk On' was Hiatt's last album for the ages. The self-aware and lackluster follow up, 'Little Head', was a bit of a disappointment and it's been a mixed bag since then. Certainly 'Crossing Muddy Waters' was a stand-out in a stellar catalogue.
I was worried when I found out he was working with many of the same lineup as 'Master of Disaster' because that one just never seemed to gel for me. Something just seemed a bit worn and maybe like it's just coming a little too easy for John nowadays.
'Same Old Man' is a pleasant surprise. Though it shares the same stripped down vibe as 'Master of Disaster', this one comes off as vibrant and fresh. Hiatt's tone ... Read More:

I loved this band's first two albums. They had a great intensity and energy about them. I don't know what happened here, but most of these songs sound so deflated and bland that I would rather not listen to them at all, and that is after repeat listenings. The album starts off well enough but after the third track things just go downhill and become very watered down and shallow. Whether these guys were just rushed to get this album out or lost their spark or both, I don't know. What matters is that with this album, Trapt fade back into the din of all the other bands of this genre trying to get noticed, and don't do anything to really set themselves apart. Hopefully they can get their groove back, but it just ain't happenin' on this release.

Norah Jones is another really relaxing CD. We just love the thought of throwing in a few CDs and chilling out after a long hard day at work.

"Detours" exceeded my expectations. Sheryl Crow still has an amazing edge, and this album proves that she remains one of the best songwriters in popular music today. In this age of iTunes and single-song downloads, I'm glad I bought the entire album, because every one of these songs deserves a chance to be heard.
The first track is intentionally simple and it sets you up beautifully for the heavy-handed "Shine Over Babylon", one of my favorite tracks, and one that is trademark Sheryl Crow material. Other favorites include "Motivation", "Drunk with the Thought of You", "Out of Our Heads" and the title track, "Detours". All very solid works, and all of them are stuck in my head as I write this review. The other tracks, while not quite as appealing to me, are ... Read More:
