I downloaded this as an MP3 file. I really like this music! I use them for my exercise routines. The songs are fairly short and most of them are instrumental.
I bought the belly dancing videos with Neena and Veena. I pick out specific movements that I want to practice. After my workout, I have fun mastering the individual movements using this music.
I have wanted to learn how to bellydance since I was very young. This music makes it easy and fun to dance. Great for making up your own routines!
Release Date December 10, 1998
The quality of this music is first rate, the coordination between instruments in some of the ensemble pieces mesmerizing. From a chorus of violins the kanun jumps in fiery solos. The taksims and individual showcasing of violin, oud, kanun and clarinet are also of exceptional quality, easily surpassing recrodings of some of the more famous turkish solo artists.

When I was a little girl I had the chance to hear Klezmer for the first time. I didn't know what it was, but I always loved it. I learned to understand and appreciate this music, butit was hard to find. I love this music! It's very jazzy and rich in sound! Everyone should buy several copies of this album!

As a recent convert to Gnawa trance music, I took a chance when I ordered this CD on spec. The best known Gnawa musician in this country, Hassan Hakmoun, has experimented with Western musical blends, using everything from jazz to rap with varying levels of success. Nass Marrakech uses more of a European and/or Eastern blend, using instruments like the tabla, and influences more natural to my ear than those of the U.S. Using musical sources having an historical geographic connection to Morocco, such as the Iberian peninsula and West Africa, where the Gnawa are said to have originated, makes for a wonderful, almost organic sound.
Mesmerizing! Perhaps not for every taste, but I recommend it!

I'm delighted to discover this treasure as I dig through the rubble at Amazon and I'm so grateful for women of conscience like Basya. This collection is full of her love for melodies that tell a story and the dances between different voices of strings, recorder and rhythms that challenge our dumbed down addiction to everything 4/4. By Way of Haran, has me voyaging into deep states of prayer for the peace of all beings and dancing in my garden. I feel blessed by this music and you will too.

As a souvenir for folks who have just seen the newest BDSS show, I imagine Babelesque is sufficient. But as a dancer, I often turn to the Superstars CDs for new music to use in performance. This CD is disappointing in that respect.
The opening track is a lovely piece by Dinletir but I imagine it will suffer from overexposure in the dance community quickly, as his previous piece, "Entrance of the Stars", has.
The next THREE tracks are all from one source album: _Asena_. It's a great album for sure, but to fill three tracks with material from one source seems like padding. One of those tracks, "Warda", has already been featured on BDSS I, which just adds insult to injury. "El Kalaw (sic) ala Meen", by Saad, also appears on a previous ... Read More:
