I received this cd fairly quickly...in about 5 days with basic shipping and when I read this seller's info on this cd they claimed it was like new, but when I got it I was a bit skeptical that it would play because the back of the cd looked as though they tried to buff out scratches with some sort of machine...it does play though...EXCELLENT in fact. Like many reviewers, I only discovered Elis in the mid-90s, about a decade and a half after her passing; but from the first note I ever heard her sing (I think it was from this disc), I knew I had stumbled upon one of those artists that defy the notion of mortality. Unforgettable, timeless, irreproducible by any known form of chemistry, Elis is all this and more.

From everything I've read she was (to say the least) "difficult" but diva-esque excess is a small price to pay for such transcendent artistry. (The French, I think, call call such figures "sacred monsters.") I don't know how she manages it, but no matter the recording/performing venue I always feel that she's singing just for me.
