This is the CD for the Summer of '08. These girls sound great. Too bad it's been a year since their hit "Rockstar" from the Bratz soundtrack. I was glad to see that it was included in this cd. "Nadie" is a great remake of Alicia Keys "No One". All the songs are awesome. Congrats Prima J! Looks like you are gonna have an amazing career. I can't wait till you go on tour. You should have Kanye and Fergie open for you. Well, off to You Tube to catch your Wango Tango performance.

Amongst all four Lila Downs releases so far, there is little doubt in my mind that this one remains an all time favorite.

Needless to say, I have become a huge fan, and all CDs by Lila and her fabulous band fully deserve five stars, period. But this one is the most indengenious one, the one of her roots, where her true character and amibition shine through in its most pure form.

I especially adore songs like La Sandunga with its magic touch, or Naila, maybe because I am a bit a sentimental guy. Anyway - buy all of her CD's, but give this one a special listen.

Hopefully, she will never burn out and continue with her wonderful voice and the intelligence and subtelty of her almost dylanesque or even taupinian ... Read More:

I find this music so refreshing because it's unlike anything else I've ever heard. I can't get it out of my head it's so addictive. If you like rock, Spanish guitar, or just good music, you'll appreciate the talent this duo brings to the table. Their other album is excellent as well.

I am most familiar with Bream's recordings of most of these works. Kraft takes the tempos generally faster, and his rubato is different. Considering Bream's recordings are among my favorite of all time, I think these stand up very well indeed. Technically almost flawless, and (to my ears) idiomatic.
The generally dry acoustic of most of the Naxos guitar recordings doesn't quite serve this recording as well as the airier ambiance in Bream's recordings.
Still, this is a minor quibble. As it is, Kraft shows himself with honor among the guitarists who have graced Naxos' terrific guitar series, which Kraft himself produces.

This album was my first experience with Manu Chao. The style is simultaneously simple and complex. From a musical standpoint, the instrumentation is primarily acoustic with simple rhythms, but lyrically and conceptually, nothing is simplistic about this masterpiece. Various audio and linguistic themes weave their way through the work, giving the listener the experience of time suspension much like that of an insomniac in a sedated state of relaxed almost-sleep where thoughts almost form, transform into other thoughts, and then evaporate only to be replaced by new thoughts.

Manu Chao employs a unique mixture of languages which form a drifting and ever changing cultural context. I've never heard anything like it.

Sometimes you think that you are going to get some wierd songs in between the hit tracks, but I really enjoyed this album. Mario really has a good ear for music.
