I have this CD and a few others. Every now and then I like to check for new releases. What I would like to know is WHERE ARE THE TRACK SAMPLES???!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM?? I listen to songs before I decide to buy, so if you want to sell a CD, then put them back.

Enya sitting on a golden throne?
A little pretentious I think.
Enya conquered the world with Sheppard Moon and Watermark.
I think she got too cocky and careless with this one.
She tried to replicate the sound of those albums and comes up short.
The disc comes across and dull and uninspired.
I was hoping the next disc would be a return to form.
Sadly, Enya seems content to make the same album over and over and over................. each one as unmemorable and uninspired as the one before it.

PARIS is the first compilation in the Putumayo series that I really took a shine to. The first cd in the series I heard was ARABIC GROOVE earlier this year but I was bored with it. It wasn't until the PARIS compilation did I realize how great Putumayo series is.

PARIS is a delightful compilation of Parisian music from the Nouvelle Scene (new scene). When I listen to the cd, I feel like I am sitting outside of a Parisian cafe. The music is very mellow. It is a mix of folk and pop with a French twist. Although I do not understand the French language, I nevertheless love listening to the language the artists sings in. Since the focus of this column is music, I won't dwell on supermodel singer Carla Bruni's recent marriage to French president Nicolas Sarkozy, because it's irrelevant to her recorded output -- at least so far. No Promises is Bruni's second album, an all-English setting of poetry by such icons as Yeats, Auden, Dickinson, and Parker. Given the introspective nature of these lyrics, it's no surprise that the album is a gossamer grab-bag of European air. Bruni's intimate vocals are mated with classical guitar, harmonica, cello, bass, and light percussion. For those given to reflecting slowly over turns of phrase, No Promises promises a provocative soundtrack. I was just looking for some background music for a birthday luau, but discovered a wonderful musical artist. We totally enjoy listening to Iz's music anytime. True Hawaiian music that brings the island atmosphere into our home whenever we want to escape to paradise.

Canciones de Mi Padre

The Reviewer below was quite right in her comparison of the traditional Mexican folk songs on this great album to mole poblano sauce, a concoction of fiery chiles and bittersweet Mexican chocolate. Linda Ronstadt is a Mexican-American, and her Canciones de Mi Padre ("My Father's Songs") is a bold and colorful blend of Spanish vocals backed by mariachi violins, trumpets, Mexican guitar, vihuela (a high-pitched, five-string guitar), flute, and one guitarrón (a small-scaled acoustic bass).
