This is a perfect collection for the holidays, or any occasion. I have the complete Winter Solstice set, and lost the first album in a divorce. This seems to be out of print, but found a like new, perfect one on Amazon. I would highly recommend these for anyone who likes to sit and comfortably relax to soothing music. Steve

This combined CD of Miriam Makeba's first and second LPs has the wonder of forward thinking and backward bliss. Hardly sold at time, the first LP, "Miriam Makeba" was a part of the US folk eagerness to hear new sounds. Like Harry Belefonte before her, there was a market for pleasant new rhythms and exotic but true belief.
It helped that Miriam sounded like Joan Baez with an accent.

In one of the most eyebrow raising great Pop moments, Miriam had a Top 12 hit with, "Pata Pata", a So. African child sing/song. Ya had ta be there!

The rest of the CD is for collectors and Paul Simon's payoff.

MCMXC A.D.--Enigma's debut album--was released in 1990. The seven compositions are seamless and play like an extended piece. The material is in a New Age musical direction. The album's sound quality is pleasing. I have always enjoyed listening to this piece of work over the years. Words to characterize MCMXC A.D. would be mysterious, refined, smooth, and creative. I like every one of the tracks. The Gregorian chants, the sounds of the flute, and the pulsating beats are what I find most memorable about this album. The disc is just over 40 minutes. MCMXC A.D. is recommendable.

I bought this to teach students more about music in different African countries and found the music very addictive and upbeat. One thing that would have made this (and many other Putumayo CDs) better would be if Putumayo provided full translation of the lyrics. Some songs (e.g. Jambo Bwana, Battu, etc.) only had translations for one paragraph of the lyrics while other songs did not have any translations at all (e.g. Mbube, Hello Hello).

We bought this CD on a whim when my daughter was a baby. Now that she's 3, it is her favorite CD. We have 3 other 'Playground' CDs and they're all wonderful. What I like best about them is that my husband and I enjoy listening to them, too. It is very accesible world music.

I LOVE celtic music, and hearing this CD takes me to another place entirely. I've never been to Ireland, but I can just feel and hear the atmosphere of the old pubs in the drinking songs, and smell the damp fields in others. My favorite, of course, is "The Unicorn", a true classic. The remaster is totally amazing!
