I just downloaded the entire album yesterday on the strength of these (at the time 27) reviews totaling somewhere in the neighborhood of 4.5 stars and a similar glowing review from pitchfork and I am amazed. Amazed at how little I enjoyed any of the murky, formless cacophonous blobs on this record. I would have given it 2 stars because a couple of tracks, Easier, central and remote perhaps show potential of being good or great songs if they were worked on some more, but I feel it neccessary to bring down the overall rating as much as possible so someone else has less chance of making the same mistake as me. just putting words to music in a certain order does not make a song. the words are very sparse, and get drowned out in the expansive, ... I found out about Flogging Molly in a slow, roundabout way. I started with some hardcore Boston punk, moved to Dropkick Murphy's, and finally to FM. I honestly have to say that this is one of the best albums ever written. I am usually a purist when it comes to music, im punk all the way, but regardless of your preferences you can't deny that this is one of the most musically rewarding albums of all time. The instrumentals make you feel like you're in Ireland and the lyrics make you feel like you're spending a rainy day in a pub singing your favorite songs. Swagger has the perfect mix of up-beat and slow songs. My personal favorite tracks are "These Exiled Years", "Devils Dance Floor", and "Far Away Boys".

I really do love listening to this CD! It stays in my car all the time. I never get tired of listening to it. The Bridges have a unique sound and melody, and their music is soothing but not boring. I definitely recommend it!

I became a L.M. fan years ago. The first time I heard her haunting voice I was instantly hooked. This wasn't the first CD I bought of hers, but it has to be my very favorite. I never grow tired of it and while I listen, her calming voice and soothing music take me to a far off place...a relaxing place that is nowadays, so rare. She has the ability to lift my spirits instantly. I love all of Loreena's music and I will be a fan of hers for life.

For those of you who are concerned about the drift of America over the last several decades, this album is the soundtrack of our country's descent. When Cohen sings, "I have seen the future. It is murder," he is talking about the arc through which we are falling. The poet says what the rest of us somehow sense but can't quite verbalize. Imagine Cohen in 1930s Germany. Except he is talking about us here in America, now, where we are and where we are going. "I have seen the future. It is murder." The rest of the album is pretty good too. "Charlie Manson, the white man dancing." All the way to the White House.

I'm a country girl, and have grown up with Bluegrass, but I'm not crazy about much of the genre's artists. But these kids are amazing. The virtuosic playing between vocal tracks is thrilling and makes you want to get up and dance around the room! And then the vocal tracks bring something brand new. It's not bluegrass, it's not even country. It's just good contemporary harmonies, great songwriting, and something the listener can relate to.

If you like country, get this album. If you like bluegrass, DEFINITELY get this album. If you like folk, get this album. If you like acoustic rock, get this album. If you like new, refreshing music, get this album.

Great Days: The John Prine Anthology

John Prine has created some of the most masterful songs that look at the dark side of humanity. Drug addiction, senior grief and other afflictions are compelling sung. There are some themes of hope, as people have courage while in difficulty and a couple of fun songs like "Illegal Smile". Don't look for happy hootenanny music, this guy had the heavy metal lyrics a lifetime before that music came along. The Greek playwrights treasured tragedy for it's catharsis, Prine's music offers the same thing. Cry a little and then feel good. You're a lot better off than many of his characters.

This is a must buy for all of you blues enthusiasists!! Just wish it lasted longer...I could have watched this all day! The performers were outstanding as well as the audio. For the great old blues music, it could not have sounded better!!
