Also heard it on NPR and discovered it. It's a brilliant album, cover-to-cover, one of the true ones you can listen to in order and just sit back and enjoy. It really has a theme and a progression.

This is my 2nd favorite CD in 2008 (#1 is Cosmic Gate - Back 2 Back 3). The CD1 track 1&2 combo are my favorite tracks right now (basically track 2 but #1 is a nice intro to it). Good stuff.
CD 1 - 5 stars
CD 2 - 4 stars
Nice progressive trance going on here. Good beats and tempo changes.
Check out Markus Schulz - Amsterdam08 for more good tunes.

The CD was just what I wanted, I appreciated being able to listen to the songs before I bought it. It came when it was supposed to. I am very pleased with Amazon.com

By the time this collection was released in 1990, Madonna had already made about 90% of her most essential recordings, so there certainly are several great songs here. However, this collection is flawed in a couple of ways. Some of her most essential songs, such as "Holiday," "Borderline," "Like A Virgin," and "Like A Prayer" are all here, as they well should be. However, if you listen closely, you'll notice that many of the songs sound considerably different than they did on the LPs or cassettes that you had in the 80s. Also, some of the songs (noticeably "Borderline") have had quite a bit of their original length chopped off. Finally, there are some less-than-subtle omissions. "Dress You Up," "Angel," "True Blue," and "Causing A Commotion," ... Read More:

I love this album. This album is just as good as her last one back in 2005. The album means emancipation = Mariah Carey to the second power. The music appeals to Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae(Cruise Control) and Gospel(I Wish You Well). On this album, She worked with The Dream, Jermaine Dupri, Will.i.am, Stargate, DJ Troomp, and C. "Tricky" Stewart. Her concentration is not on club-oriented dance tracks but on smooth, mid-tempo R&B that pulses with sexy glamour. Nothing on this album is a radical depature, but she gets better at making sexy, listenable, flawlessly crafted R&B. This album has been certified Platinum so far.

Before he was Whacko Jacko, he was a brilliant musical star, a man who revolutionized expectations of what a recording artist could do. Michael Jackson had a moment of star-crossed genius when he (along with a dream team that included Quincy Jones, among others) recorded Thriller, an album to this day is a benchmark of how pop can be both immaculate and stunning at the same time.
What happened after is stuff of legend. Michael Jackson became a man obsessed...not just the tabloid crap that dominates his legacy, but with topping his best work. The evidence here is that he often touched moments for pure brilliance ("Man in The Mirror," "Black and White") but also trapped himself into self-repetition ("Dirty Diana" aping "Beat It" and "Billie Jean"). ... I bought this mostly for "You and Your Hand". However, while that's still a favorite, "Dear Mr. President" is excellent as well as the "Stupid Girls" which is being played on air. There is also a bonus track not listed that is done by Pink and her dad about his Vietnam War experience which is very good. The insert to the cd (the paper thing with the lyrics) is also quite interesting. It has many pictures and her "insights" to the cd, life, etc. I would definitely recommend it, am glad I bought it and I will NOT be putting it on eBay as I do many cds I buy and don't care for!

I was looking forward to this third album after falling in love with their first two about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately, NYC does not even come close to their previous work. The songs are simple and boring. Many of them are too repetitive to tolerate. I have a philosophy on music: If a chorus or verse gets stuck in your head really easily, it's a crappy, unorginal, and highly formulated song.
This is the kind of stuff NYC is; very formulated; very produced for the large masses of people who listen to crappy music (i.e. stuff on the radio waves). I don't think the band worked as hard on this one, because it's so simple-sounding. The first time I listened to album I had to keep skipping songs because they were so bad. By the end of the cycle I ... Read More:

To my surprise, when I first heard this cd, on amazon, I liked a few of the songs. I bought the cd, I listened to the whole thing, I was addicted to it. It is very different. Very poppy, with different sounds to it. I think that Justin will have a bigger carrer as a solo artist then in a boy band. I recommend this cd to anyone who likes music like Michael Jackson or Prince.
