As an 18 year old univeristy student i would have to rate "The Only Classical Cd You'll Ever Need" as excellent. I dont know much about classical music but i was able to recognize almost every song and able to appreciate the music. Classical music is excellent to study to when i am up late for an exam and amazing to calm down to will i am simply resting. For anyone who has never been interested in classical music i would recomend this CD as a great start to an appreciation for an amazing genre of music.

The sound on the CD is just as good as my old vinyl recording, but the pauses between tracks are either extremely short or non-existent. This invariably proves irritating. I'm not a sound-engineer so I don't know if there's any way this could have been fixed, at least without turning the recording into a MIDI file, which I would cheerfully purchase for playback on my MIDI piano. But then would it still sound like Glenn at the keyboard? Final opinion? I don't own the DVD version yet but i'd try it, if only for its greater capacity.

I Bought this for my 18 year old Autistic son. He loves music. Sometimes he gets wound up so I thought this would be good to help him unwind at night before he goes to bed. He seems to like it a lot. I know I do. It is good to add the classics to our collection.

Bach: Cello Suites Nos. 1-6

This rendition of Bach's cello suites is by far the best I have ever heard. The sound quality is so clear his fingers can be heard sliding on the strings and an occasional breath before a passage. The acoustics of the instrument are so perfectly recorded it would not sound any different live!

Also all suites 1-6 are flawless. As usual Rostropovich pulls off all 42 movements with laser guided precision and OCD accuracy.

For this price you cant go wrong. It has all styles, allegro, largo, slow and fast paced with the trumpet and background instruments. Vivaldi and Telemann's pieces are my favorites on this CD, but the rest is great as well. This soothing music that makes you feel great to live at the same time is impossible to pass up. All it took was one sample for me to buy it, and no regrets!

Distant Land: The Orchestra Collection

I was sorry I purchased this CD. For the most part I like John Rutter's music, but this orchestral collection was not to my taste. If you like 101 Strings or music typically associated with a wait at the doctor's, this is for you. Although there were some exciting passages(Suite Antique being the best of the disc), after reading the glowing reviews here I expected something more than mostly background filler.
