If it is possible, I think that the soundtracks for this show just keep getting better! Again with the variety being a big plus. I have all three of my kids listening to these soundtracks now! Can't wait for the next one!!!

Who would have the creative energy and ambition to release a three disc set containing 69 songs all about the most complex of human emotions, while at the same time giving it a name that is a clever double entendre? Stephen Merritt, that's who. The gifted/eccentric pop auteur has delivered a stunning set of songs that examine love from every possible angle. This is no sappy collection of silly love songs. Merritt is concerned with more than just the superficial idea of love that we have been presented in movies, television, and, well...... music.
The songs on this collection examine the countless effects that love can have upon us. There is the giddy joy of falling in love and developing a new relationship, the pain of realizing ... Read More:

Liam Finn recently admitted on a directv concert series that the album is largley about breakups. That being said don't let that stop you from checking this cool album out. To quote the movie waking life"At times of chaos in my life I like to go salsa dancing with my confusion". Liam doesn't wallow in self-pity like other break-up albums. He bravely navigates between mourning, exorcising, and even sarchism saying"Is there such a thing as love... or is it just a trick to procreate?"
You'll get more and more with each listen if you give it a chance. The obvious influences didn't bother me because I bought this without knowing he was even related to Neil Finn. Check out his concert on directv it's very interesting as he uses a loop pedal. ... Read More:

There's always time -and certainly also room- for luck. Luck, as ambiguos as it could be, is something that appears without a warning, all of a sudden, like a bird standing on a window staring at the inside. And then, at that moment, you're lucky. And after that you can be sure that everything will go well. Well, at least that's what some of us (I really don't know how many) fans of Isobel's earlier work (from "Swansong for you" to "Milkwhite sheets", including, of course, her major colaborations in Belle and Sebastian's albums) thought after listening "Ballad of the broken seas". A weird album, for sure. I actually read an interview that Stuart Murdoch gave to a mexican magazine in which the reporter asked if Isobel and Mark were the new Nancy and Lee. For obvious ... You're not going to hear a ton of new music on this album -- the majority of tracks are off of previously released albums. But if you're a Decemberists fan, you'll love it anyway. It's just... fun. Meloy's understated style of humor is sprinkled throughout, and the previously mentioned "Dracula's Daughter" track is a perfect example.
Even after hearing this album dozens of times, I find that it still gets at least as much play time as all of my other Decemberists albums. And that's saying a lot, because my other Decemberists albums get a LOT of play time.

This is my first exposure to Neil Halstead. I listened to a few clips and thought, "Hey, if it's on Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records label, it has to be awesome, right?" Well, if you're expecting it to sound like Jack Johnson 2.0 and be really surfer-chillout-music, it is not. But that's ok, because it's still quite good.
"Oh! Mighty Engine" is more folk-y, singer/songwriter-y than I expected. The album is very acoustic and basic in terms of instruments. Halstead has a pleasant-sounding voice. If you like Mason Jennings (he's great), this is probably right up your alley.
Overall I found "Oh! Mighty Engine" very relaxing and calming - maybe a little too slow if I'm going to pick on anything. I think this might also be one of those albums that really ... Read More:

Calm, chill, really funky sound to it, touching songs. I could listen to this album 1000x over from start to finish without getting sick of it. The BEST Death Cab for Cutie album by far, and one of the very few albums in my collection I can listen to from start to finish!
Release Date March 11, 2008
Well, its not nearly as good as Until We Felt Red, and there are some really weak tracks like Pull Me Out Alive, which is really dumbed down and has a very simple structure, almost sounds like Tegan and Sarah or something. The music seems to lack the creativity of her previous efforts, and many of the instrumental songs sound underdeveloped, as in they come off as sections of a larger work that doesn't quite complete. The guitar work isn't nearly as interesting as her other records, with the exception of Air and Kilometers.
But that being said, its still not a horrible album, and it does grow on you a bit, so its worth a download. The best tracks are, Saving Days in a Frozen Head, and Air and Kilometers.
