Great CD. I bought it for my husband, he's always been a Fats fan and he loves it. All the artists did a wonderful job. Worth every penney.

There is a huge amount of Muddy Waters-compilations out there, and while MCA/Chess's two-disc, 50-track "Anthology 1947-1972" is certainly more definitive than this Geffen compilation, it does offer a very good overview of Muddy Waters' career.
Opening with the classic 1948 single "I Can't Be Satisfied", this CD takes you through (most of) the highlights from the 1950s and 60s. "Hoochie Coochie Man", "I'm Ready", "I Just Wanna Make Love To You", "Mannish Boy", and "Got My Mojo Working" are here, of course, and in the original versions, too, but it's a shame that some slightly lesser known (but equally fine) singles like "I Love The Life I Live, I Live The Life I Love", "She's Nineteen Years Old" and "I Want To Be Loved" are missing. ... I thoroughly enjoyed this cd. Some have complained that Jimmy Vaughn's guitar playing wasn't up to par, but he sounds as he always does. He is not a jazz player. He plays it rough, bluesy, and always on the edge. Perfect for these songs. And the chance to hear the fabulous Lou Ann Barton, even in a background role, is worth the price. When will she be putting out a new cd?

This album is absolutely amazing from start to finish. It ranges from touching melodious folk to gritty and funky. Excellent lyrics and writing, excellent instrumentation, and excellent all around. Get this album!

I just finished another review and this CD popped up as a product I recently purchased for me now to review.
I don't even have anything to say.
I took a look at the reviews below and can't add a single thing except just to express my heartfelt agreement with them and to recommend this CD to anybody that comes along. So read the reviews below and buy this amazing collection of legendary John Lee Hooker's music.

While this may not be for everyone, it is an outstanding look at the legend of Robert Johnson who himself was a blues legend. It is a search through the Southeastern US for the real truth about him and includes interview footage of people who knew him well. Fascinating material if you love the Blues.

It should be said that Sonny Landreth is blindingly fast on guitar. Yet, after trying to like this album for more than a week, I just do not. And the reason is that my ears detect no soul at all in his playing. I am reminded of several other virtuoso guitarists (Walter Trout and Johnny Winter most specifically) who make an awful lot of noise, but very little listenable music. I am also missing entirely the Blues aspect of this recording. It's rock-and-roll. A little more attention to melody and continuity, and less fret-finger acrobatics, would help a lot.

On the very best list of 1962 and 1960's albums, Ray Charles'"Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music" has to be on a top and prominent place on that distinguished list. The main jewels of that royal crown are "I Can't Stop Loving You" definitely the top hit song of 1962, played and played not only for that entire year but subsequently. The others top hits in that album were "Born to Lose" originally the flip side on the former 45 rpm single version and "You Don't Know Me". Bonus tracks were added on this great compilation. Perhaps the only missing Ray Charles musical jewel in this great musical compilation is "Georgia On My Mind". If they would've added that song to this fabulous album, it would've been an unprecedented collector's item and best seller.

This DVD is a great gift to those who appreciate superb blues guitar music. Until now the only official video recording available of Roy Buchanan is in VHS form FURTHER ON DOWN THE ROAD-ROY BUCHANAN, ALBERT COLLINS, LONNIE MACK. There are other unofficial recordings of Roy Buchanan performing if you are fortunate to acquire them.
I have never seen an artist like Roy Buchanan play blues guitar like him. Original and plays with such emotion that it can be felt by the listener. I can only compare Mr. Buchanan's uniqueness to Edward Van-Halen' s unique way of playing rock guitar.
Roy Buchanan plays a combination of harmonic pinches, volume control, country pickin and flamenco combinations in his blues playing in an orchestrated talented way. You will ... Read More:
