Joe's 4th album is another killer blues rock disc. There is more rock than blues to be found on this one, which puts some of Joe's fans off a bit, but this is more really great stuff. Joe seems to incorporate more acoustic and slide elements on this one, and there is even a rockabilly almost country influence to be found as well. Some of these tracks remind me of Swedish guitar phenom Mads Erikson in style. I don't really have a lot more to say about this one other than it is another rock solid album from an incredibly talented guy.

I have heard many a guitar player, and often been less than blown away by them. That is not the case with Ronnie Earl.
It pains me to say this, but I can no longer claim that Stevie Ray Vaughn holds my number one spot anymore.
While I enjoy Earls earlier work, I am not a follower of jazz, so it takes a bit more getting used to. This one leans more towards the blues direction.
The notes this man churns out are unbelievable. He has a great tone, and uses it to his advantage. He also has a good ear for the different stylings of blues.
While its hard (and not fair) to assume what SRV may have sounded like today if he survived, I would make the case that it would not be much different than this. I almost want to say Ronnie ... Read More:

This is one of my alltime favorite blues albums. It is an acoustic album and Muddy shines in this format. The only thing I didn't care for on this version were the five bonus tracks. They just don't fit the vibe of the original version. On the other hand, it's some additional Muddy Waters for no extra cost! Get this album and you won't be disappointed.

This is one of the best female blues records you will ever here. The band is incredible; the girl is an angel!!! Wonderful soul that reaks of Al Green, as well as, good old funky blues and vocal showcase songs!! BUY THIS RECORD!!! YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!!

This version of "Look of Love" is the best version i've heard still today. Ike layed it down with his 11 minute plus version of this classic cut. His orchestra is so tight nitched. "Runnin' out of Fools" is also the jam on this cd as well.

I first became aware of Sonny Landreth in 2005 when he played the annual winter blues series at our local theater. Prior to that I had heard the name, and knew he occasionally played with Jimmy Buffett, but other than that was not familiar with his work. When it was announced that he was coming to town a friend of mine insisted that I go check him out. I did and they guy blew me away. Landreth is probably best known for his prowess on slide guitar, but he really can play just about any style. He hails from New Orleans and to this day there is still a lot of Cajun blues influence to his music. "Down In Louisiana" is a very early Landreth release back when he was paired up with vocalist / harmonica man Mel Melton in the mid 80's. The music is very much Cajun zydeco ... Read More:

A moving documentary of the struggles of not only the musicians but of two men trying to record, promote, and preserve a form of the blues that is truly original, timeless, and captivating. Both the musicians and producers are clearly not in it for the money because there is none. No this is clearly done for the love of the music. I do not wish to prejudice anyones opinion of the film prior to viewing so I'll just leave it for you to enjoy.

I always considered Ray Charles a blues singer, and still
do, but his voice and style compliment jazz artist Betty
Walker's on this album to a T. I love their rendition of "Alone
Together" and "Every Time We Say Goodbye" is excellent.
If you want to hear Ray Charles at his softest, get this album. The only criticism I have is there is too much accompaniment by the orchestra and back-up singers.
Release Date February 15, 2005
Great record, a must for any blues/rock lover. Johnny bridges the gap between blues and 70's rock and roll. My favorites are Tribute to Muddy (the best on the LP), Help Me, Got love if You Want it, and Fourty Four. Special mention to Mean Town Blues, which he nails.
Not the best recording quality, but I can just see JW tearing into his Fender XII with the six string set up.
