Stay Positive, when compared to the previous releases of THS, does have a feeling of a smirking smile, even in the midst of the subject matter. Everything from (dare I say) Springsteen style epic rock ballads and subject matter, to beat poetry and phenomenal lyrical story telling.
I've read that Craig Finn has indicated that he sings about the specific to describe the general"- and he does it quite well. Often times, its a bit didactic, hes repeating the same lines which didn't need underlining and emphasis. But there is brilliance, and pretty consistent brilliance.
Songs like "Constructive Summer " and "Sequestered in Memphis" are smooth and quite perfect- and "yeah sapphire" is a rock guitar gem. IF you like indie/alternative ... Read More:

Afterglow is exceptional. Sarah has a beautiful voice and is one of the very best Jazz vocalists. This album is very good and a great pleasure to listen to.

On their latest record, Deerhoof are a band heading in the right direction, hitting a sweet spot between their characteristic experimentation and a more enjoyable, accessible kind of pop songwriting. Since 2005's The Runner's Four, the band has been moving more and more towards this kind of sound, blending unpredictable shifts with great hooks. On the opener, "The Tears of Music and Love," you can hear the band's typical style in the riff's dropped final measure, creating an unexpected jump to the beginning of the next measure. It's a great tool for the start of the record, creating interest and some unpredictability that keeps the listener engaged. "Chandelier Searchlight" and "Buck and Judy" are fun, pretty tracks that have a very J-pop oriented sound. The title track ... Read More:

Hail to the Thief is in my opinion one of the best Radiohead cd's period. Most when thinking about Radiohead immediately think about Kid A, completely disregarding Hail. But! That's a mistake. Hail.. has the brilliant songs: Myxomatosis, Backdrifts and The Gloaming. If you don't already own it, get it now. And if you can, see them live. It will give you an even greater appreciation

It's quite disappointing to see some people dismissing this as another live album/DVD not deserving of attention.
This is a true reflection of the energy, dynamism, creativity and imaginsation of MUSE. I'm old enough to remember "Live & Dangerous" being considered one of the best live albums, but listening to it now it sounds bland compared to MUSE at Wembley.
The camera work and editing is terrific and completely reflects the atmosphere and energy in the band and the crowd. The frantic cutting in Stockholm Syndrome reminds me of the mosh pit.
I suspect those not impressed have never seen them live. Go see them then revisit the DVD. If it doesn't light up your eyes then you have no soul.

This album is okay, but it's highly overrated. The best and only really great Spoon album, as far as I can tell, is Girls Can Tell. Please make an album like that again.

The story of the second Margot and the Nuclear So-and-Sos album is a pretty unpleasant one -- as rumour says, the label didn't like the band's sophomore album "Animal!", leading to some conflict with the band.
The compromise: "Not Animal," a more label-friendly album, released alongside a vinyl-only release of the original "Animal." (They have some of the same songs, though)
Don't worry, though. "No Animal" is not a radio-friendly pop confection, nor is it a trend-hopping MTV-esque album styled for mass consumption. It may not be the album that Margot And the Nuclear So-and-Sos wanted to put out, but its vividly blurry music and mournfully warped pop sensibilities are gloriously intact -- and listening to it is a little like taking an acid-fueled weekend in ... Okay chances are you either heard the song "Hanging By A Moment" on the radio or you probably saw the buzzballads commercial like I did. And chances are you think no song could top it off...but believe me there are plenty that do and this is coming from a pessimist.
1)hanging by a moment: not gonna get too into it. one of those songs you love at the first listen and that you just wanna play over and over. that and what made the band big when it debuted
2)sick cycle carousel: good song to come after HBAM. starts off nice and then gets into it. pretty good song. didnt get as much success radiowise but still one of the more radio friendly songs.
3)Unknown: pretty good song. however though its not one of the ones i listen to the most. although ... Read More:
