In 1991 singer/songwriter/guitarist Rivers Cuomo came along to form this band called Weezer and recruited lead guitarist Brian Bell, bass player Matt Sharp, and drummer Patrick Wilson. It wasn't until two years later in September 1993 that the band finally completed this marvelous debut known as "The Blue Album". To produce the ten songs included they chose Ric Ocasek from the popular 70's new wave group The Cars. I really like the raw sound that this recording has and the cover looks cool too mostly because blue happens to be my favorite color!

An acoustic guitar arpeggio opens the album's first song "My Name Is Jonas" in good fashion and then the distorted guitars kick in along with the distinctive vocals of Cuomo. Note the harmoinca ... Read More:

Of course, there are plenty of 18+ people who will like the album, but for a majority this one just isn't quite about mature enough content to hold interest for long.

First off, this is not a 'bad' album, so much as a bad album for a band like The Academy Is.... Where previous albums were about life and touched on love in a more roundabout way, Fast Times is a blatant Boy Meets Girl high school soundtrack.

The first half of the album is likable because it consists almost entirely of hooks with a few other lyrics thrown in to make an actual song, while the last few are so generic they completely fade into the background if you're doing something else and you don't even notice when one song progresses into the next.

This is the best album cover ever in rock and roll history as far as I'm concerned, the music inside is just gravy. Nothing could top OK Computer, so Radiohead didn't even try - they very wisely went in a completely different direction into almost another genre altogether. OK Computer is basically a straight up rock record but Kid A is pretty much electronic music. The first song, "Everything in it's Right Place" is one of the best in Radiohead's live set - it sounds much better live is what I'm trying to say - but the studio version is still very captivating, especially with good speakers. "How To Disappear Completely" almost matches the intensity of "Exit Music" from the previous record. I think the peak of the record is "In Limbo", maybe the scariest song I've ... Read More:

Sarah McLachlan is one of my favorite artists and this album provides more of her signature style. An incredibly beautiful voice, haunting melodies, and emotional lyrics mark this as another wonderful album!

Alright, to start with the Gaslight Anthem isn't a punk band. They're on a punk label (more or less) and tour with punk bands, but don't think you're getting a straight up punk cd. This is a classic rock record that falls firmly in between some of the classic songs of Springsteen and Tom Petty. Bouncy, catchy rock tunes about teen loves and '50's culture. It's good. It's real good.

I am not the biggest of Talking Heads fans, but I do like much of their work. Yet, this is the one Talking Heads video or album you must have. The concert is really cool and I love when David Byrne(sp?) leaves the stage to the remaining members of his band to do a few as the Tom Tom Club. If you need pyrotechnics and laser lighting to enjoy a show...this is not for you. But, if you appreciate an artist and want to see his interpretation of his music.....here it is. I have given this one as gifts to those that wouldn't buy it themselves. They have always been glad to have it in their collection.
