If you don't have any CDs with classical music yet, but would really have some, then this box is really a wonderful way to start with. Glenn Gould was a genius in his own way with a vanguard attitude to the interpretation of the "holy" works. If you know the pieces well, but never heard the Gould's versions, may be it's time to breathe in some fresh fragrance from the known source.
Pro: you have the complete studio recordings of Glenn Gould with original LP packaging artwork.
Contra: the CDs are packaged direct into carton without any inlays neither of soft paper nor of plastic. And it's a pity, because if you're going to listen to them often, then you can scratch the CDs. And if you're a CD/record collector then you don't have lots ... Read More:

I bought this because I love to listen to cellos. On my Mark&Daniels,the sound is first rate, overall. ButI would have loved to have the cello given a bit more prominence, audio-wise. The accompanying instruments are aggressive enough to drown the cello out in the musical pictures, except for the first selection which is just fabulous.

I often have "Soundscapes" on during the day, but do not leave on the TV monitor, as I cannot always see it. However, when I do hear a song that grabs my attention, I will walk over and turn on the monitor to see the name and the artist of the song. Many times over the last months, I would see that the song was by Ludovico Einaudi, so many times, in fact, that I eventually bought this album. What a great decision that was! I own hundreds of New Age or instrumental CDs by great artists, but this is superlative music. There are no weak or throw-away cuts here, just powerful, emotional sounds that will grab your heart and not let go. I have watched Andre Rieu live from NY Radio City so many times and have totally enjoyed it each and every time. I purchased the DVD for some family and friends and they have also enjoyed it, they couldn't thank me enough for sending it to them.

Andre Rieu did a show in Atlantic City, NJ a few months ago....I hope that will be on a DVD because I will definately order it.

Debussy's Greatest Hits

This is a great CD to listen to after a stressfull day at work. Debussy was an impressionist musician, or that's what they called him during his life. Most people don't know that there were impressionists that were not painters, so this classical musician is a breath of fresh air even for those that do not like classical music.

Libera continues to put out great music. Though the music is basically the same type of music as their other CD's. This CD has a slightly different feel to it in my opinion. Their music is part ethereal and part just plain fun. They sound like they enjoy singing together and being part of Libera. It would be great to be able to see them live in concert to see that joy and enthusiasm that they put into their singing on the CD's. Anyone who is a fan of boy treble singers and boy's choirs should buy this CD.

Many claim Lang Lang to have dire interpretational problem.
What in fact is 'interpretational problem'? There is simply no standard answer, as the topic is pure subjectivity.
That said, for those (Chinese especially) who claim that Lang's "Yellow River Concerto" lacks in any thing at all, I would rebut by a direct answer - Lang's Yellow River is his OWN Yellow River; not the one in the 1970's, nor 1940's.
Lang Lang grew up under the direct influence of Chinese music - his father was member of a Chinese performing troupe and plays the Chinese instrument erhu, as many may have known already.
This album compiles many songs that Lang Lang has grown up with, and he has a very intimate and personal approach to those songs, transcribed to the pianoforte.

I respectfully agree yet disagree with Ms Barbara Eisner who wrote the review of the 3 Tenors 1990 concert. She is right that Carreras was not on par with the other 2 but that is only because at this late stage in his (Carreras) career he was not in the very fine voice he once was due to overuse of his voice and his battle with leukemia, which he valiantly won!. If you could appreciate, as I do,Carreras' 1970's richly-gorgeous and velvety voice in recordings of operas such as Lucia, La Boheme, Donizetti and liter Verdi operas you would have seen his mid 70's peak voice would have been every been as excellent as Domingo and Pavarotti were in the 3 Tenors 1990 concert. These kids are absolutely the most talented I have ever seen- Their training must have been intense! Absolute perfection! If you like boychoir music, this is the best there is! I sure wish they would do more video!
