There's something scary about picking up an album after 30 years and remembering every detail, tone of voice, ethic accent and punchline. Such was the impact of Cheech and Chong on my adolescent mind that listening to them in middle age was as though I had pulled them off the turntable just yesterday. The duo's sense of anarchy and "stickin' it to the man" is still fresh and (sadly?) relevant in the era of the Iraq War as it was in the era of the Vietnam War. But though comic tastes have evolved in C&C's direction, their wackiness and sense of fun set them apart.
C&C's cast of characters is memorable. We have super-smarmy faux-hip DJs (ala Wink Dinkerson), unapologetic drunken pederasts and witless stoners (Trippin' in Court) and a battalion of GI shirkers ... Read More:
