great contemporary jazz displaying hints of classical composition with a texturality reminiscent of Davis's Blue period and a similar atmospheric moodiness. the style and sound recall Wallace Roney though the composition is a bit more rigourous and methodical. Excellent contemporary Jazz with a traditional feel.
Release Date October 25, 1990
Had a copy of this album on *cassette tape* in the 90s; cannot wait to rip this CD to mu iPod now that it's arrived! Bought the Rock-a-bye colection of albums as lullaby song to play for our newborn that wouldn't drive mom and dad batty with saccharine sounds. This CD is better -- takes so many familiar and good Disney tunes and adds a mature sound that baby and parents can appreciate.

This is the only Garth Brooks still in my collection, and it's still pretty good and quite listenable. Garth is no Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, or Merle Haggard, but on this album, he manages to make a very good country album. Most modern country stars are slick and over packaged, but Garth never felt like that. One of my favorite songs on this album is New Way to Fly. It's one of Garth's most beautiful, moving songs (he also co-wrote it), and that song has the soul and depth that old country music always seems to find. As for the other songs, if you're not singing along to Friends in Low Places, you're an uptight sod. The song Unanswered Prayers is actually pretty good. Its lyric and message is quite moving. How many us have been p**sed at God for not ... Read More:

Overview:
Double Sunrise over Neptune is a journey through space and time. Performed by 16 piece ensemble the music has a spiritual and transcendental feel to it. It bears closest resemblance to Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders work of the late 60's and early 70's. It also reminds me a bit of the version of Spanish Key from the Miles From India CD released in spring '08. While the CD has some free moments, it is for the most part groove based with a repetitive bass line holding down structure throughout the song and improvisation over the top. Strings (violin, viola, guitar, banjo, and oud) are very nicely layered together with reeds (sax, clarient, double reeds) which create a very textured and deep sound. The music is perfectly complimented by vocalist ... Read More:

I've been waiting for another Taylor Eigsti album for some time. This album is as wonderful as his first two. His skill at the piano is amazing. A must-have for those who love jazz piano.

Previously known for h is gross out comedies, here a Twist on Coolio's Gangster's Paradise sees Al becoming an Amish Rhabbi seriously. The rest of the album isn't funny either. The record company said they were trying tyo make Al less like a geek, and instead he became an Amish icon; the Amish practice cannibalism a la Methodists. We had not only mystery meat but ate a real person at Pot Luck dinner at Pilgrim. If he would've done this from the beggining, he would be the main guy in music right now. I'm pilgrim and I wasn't offended, but I think they picked the wrong guy to do it. I'm not saying it should be me. They were sent in to clean up this gangster stuff, which they got accused of being Gangsters themselves. Only a diehard suicidal would want to convert after hearing ... Read More:

I've been a Carlin fan for decades and recently saw him during his It's Bad For Ya tour. Never seen a funnier, more true patriotic american than Carlin. As others have said not every track is a master (he goes a bit overboard with the suicide-channel bit), but he does make you think.
My personal favorite is his "attack" on dumb americans. We don't like to admit it, but we are as long as we continue to follow and praise a system that doesn't care about us...at all!! When you really think about it, you'll (hopefully) realize that Uncle George is right!
