I have not heard of Richie Havens in years and was glad to see that he was still making music. I've always loved his voice and words and was not disappointed in his new CD.
Release Date July 19, 2005
This is a great CD for fans of Emmylou Harris. It has many favorite songs that I remember from previous CDs and also some tracks I hadn't heard before. As always, her voice delivers a true clear quality and her cover of "Love Hurts" was a genuine (and great) surprise! I would highly recommend this CD for fans of bluegrass and country rock as there are tracks that will please both audiences.

It seems like each and everyday Ben Harper's music continues to grow on me. I have known his music for a decade but didn't really become a fan until a couple of years ago. He is trully one of the most creative artists of his time. He can go from rock, soul, funk, R&B, gospal, and even bluegrass over a course of an album and it never sounds forced or chessy.
Lifeline is a fantastic album. "Into the Colors" is a great first single and the album is packed with great tracks throuhout. If you are a Ben Harper fan then you will not be disappointed with this purchase. This is one of the best albums in the music industry over the past few years.

This is still one of my favorite albums of all time, and I just discovered how good it sounds in headphones (great stereo spread), however I am listening to Oh lonesome me, and it is in mono-I think I remember that from when I had it on LP. Anyway, I don't think old Neil did any better than here. The songs are all great, and his voice is in perfect shape!

Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman, David Crosby, Michael Clarke, and Gene Clarke. The Byrds. One of the top groups in their time. This represents some of their greatest hits (and there are some bonus cuts not on the original work).
Some examples of their art:
"Mr. Tambourine Man": Maybe their quintessential hit? There is the characteristic instrumental sound and the voices melding together in a typical fashion. The liner notes suggest that the Byrds were a kind of synthesis between Bob Dylan and the Beatles. I'm not so sure that I see that, but this cut might make the case for some listeners. This is a smooth melodic piece, so typical of the Byrds. A laid back sound. . . .
"Turn, Turn, Turn": Pete Seeger's song is given a Byrds' treatment. ... Read More:

It seems hard to believe now both as to the performer as well as to what was being attempted that anyone would take umbrage at a performer using an electric guitar to tell a folk story (or any story for that matter). It is not necessary to go into all the details of what or what did not happen with Pete Seeger at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 to know that one should be glad, glad as hell, that Bob Dylan continued to listen to his own drummer and carry on a career based on electronic music.
Others have, endlessly, gone on about Bob Dylan's role as the voice of his generation (and mine), his lyrics and what they do or do not mean and his place in the rock or folk pantheons, or both. I just want to comment on a couple of songs here. Obviously, no one will ever really unravel ... Read More:

Well..i've never written a review on AMZN before. I am an absolute music afficianado and am a Grateful Dead fanatic. I would say that I have in my collection every single important 60's and 70's albums created (from Zep, Beatles, Floyd, all Dylan, Stones, Who, Allmans, Neil, Hendrix, Dead, and the zillion other important contributions worldwide).
THIS ALBUM BLOWS THEM ALL AWAY!
It is without question the most impressive studio album ever recorded and should be a part of any and all music fans collection. Most people know very little about the members of this group and their importance to the music industry. While R.Robertson gets the credit for most of their work.....this band MORE SO THAN ANY OTHER is truly A BAND effort. Levon Helm is simply put one of the finest southern ... Read More:

I've had this album for over a year and played it over and over. Took it places with me, and now I find the case is empty. Must have left it somewhere. Checked high and low. May be in a friend's car somewhere. I can't wait any longer, so I'm going to buy it again.
My 20-something son thinks I'm nuts to buy CDs at all, but what can I say . . . at least I've dumped all of my casettes. This is one of those albums you can listen to all the way through, every song, and not want to skip ahead over the three or four you don't like. It's even, thoroughly enjoyable listening music. And every now and again it gets me up dancing.
You won't regret buying this jewel. Can't wait for his new one coming in October.

I love everything Melissa Etheridge has ever done. If put out an album of her simply singing the phone book I would buy it and probably love it. Her songs have been the sound track to my coming out and to my first serious relationship and then breakup. On the other hand, Melissa's music as always shied away from one topic which is very important to my life, faith.
in Awakening Melissa blew me away. Not only are these song beautiful and powerful but she also speaks out about issues of love, hate, faith, hope and just life.
This is one of her very best.
