After reading numerous POSITIVE Reviews I thought I would give this CD a shot, as I am also a fan of early 1900's French and Parisian Music... and this CD was extolled to be such....and these were also very romantic times! Well, as we all have broad tastes in music so do I and when I say my tastes are broad, I'm being conservative as about the only thing I don't like is Opera and Rap! Anything else in between usually works! However, not this CD! I've TRIED listening to every track and was, today, on my 3rd-attempt to try and find something about it that I could enjoy! I got up to selection #5 and hit the eject button! To me it was nothing but noise, more noise and then some more!! It's going on eBay tomorrow for 1-cent plus shipping! ... Read More:

The 1960s had their share of sad and wistful hits, and Joni Mitchell was behind more than a few. "Both Sides Now" and "The Circle Game" were coffehouse favorites well into the 70s, when folk rock was fading and mindless disco was taking over the AM and FM airwaves. But even in the post-modern world of the early 21st century, Joni's sweet, sad sounds still satisfy. "Hits," a compendium of Joni's most popular music, gives us the exquisitly-produced and syncopated big hits like "Help Me" and "Free Man in Paris" but a few lesser-known work as well. "Hits" covers the peak of Joni's career and stays firmly on the pavement, but even the casual listener will appreciate the strength of her melodies, the complexity of her arrangements and the bittersweet ... That was a good night. Can't believe it was so long ago as it was because I remember it like it was yesterday. Very well captured on this video, and the performance speaks for itself. Great way to remember it if you were there and great way to experience it if you were not.

This is the album that Dr. Gonzo's Samoan lawyer himself wished to be ecstatically bathtub-electrocuted by. If that is not a good endorsement, I don't know what is.
Release Date January 29, 2008
I've listened to his music since he started recording and this album showcases his youthful vocal style and energy. I particularly enjoy the funky blues and soul numbers but find this overall to be an excellent addition to to my collection.

I think everything has been said already in the previous reviews so there's not much - or rather nothing - I can add.
All I wanted to say is that this is a very special record for me. I listen to a lot of music and own several hundred CDs but this one is really outstanding. I think that this record is really emotional but in a pleasent kind of way. A lot of songs on the album bring tears to my eyes everytime I hear them. The whole project was a great idea and one can feel that the participators put all their heart and love into it.
In short: Mermaid Avenue is one of the records that makes live worth living for me.
I'm a fan of Wilco but I love this one better than any of their studio-albums.

i remember seeing this when it first came out .the MTV unplugged series was definitely an armature show till natalie and the maniacs appeared and i never even heard of them the track- because the night became an instant hit you can still hear it on radios stations almost daily (my other favorite was -like the weather )all the tracks were great and the band and natalie were on point this show put the unplugged series on the map and set the standards high it was also visually pleasing to watch but they didnt put it on DVD my other favorite was the nirvana episode no DVD either

The 2003 Rhino collection 'The Very Best of the Grateful Dead' is the set to own if you're a casual fan. You get 17 classic Dead songs, and for a relatively low price as well.
This set is very enjoyable. You get all of the songs a casual Deadhead will need. 'Sugar Magnolia,' 'Casey Jones,' 'Truckin,' 'Touch Of Grey,' and a great live version of 'One More Saturday Night.' This is classic rock at it's finest.
But, there are some key songs missing. 'China Doll' and the underrated classic 'And We Bid You Goodnight' should be on this set. Rhino probably should have made this a two CD set. But this is still a great set for anybody that wants a nice, single-disc collection.
And, the sound quality is amazing. Rhino did an excellent ... Read More:

Given that there are usually only 1-2 good tracks on an album anymore, this album has five excellent, high quality songs and the others are not even that annoying like you see a lot of times. Heaven's Here on Earth, The Rape of the World, Tell it Like it is, Give me one Reason, are enough to possibly make this a five star album, but she nails down any idea of making it a four star album with the song "Remember the Tinman". This song that could be called "Who stole your heart" is very subtle and she gives the solution to this cosmic problem at the end of the song, with the "Remember the Tinman" not even mentioning "The Wizard of Oz"; Nope she's far to subtle for this. This and the popular hit "Give me one Reason" make this one of the better albums ever produced in my opinion. ... Read More:

Having listened to EG for years and years and also seen her live more than once, I found this album to be her most poignant and conscious to date. With intelligence and passion, she is writing songs here which combine to decry the state of the world, not simplistically but with complex and thoughtful lyrics, yet also to endorse some small hope. The lyrics coupled with the very somber and gorgeous accompaniments really brought me to tears at times. She also really gets the difficulties of women in the world today, yet does not press. I was intrigued also by her echoes of old fifties tunes and lyrics which she has revised ironically for our times with very different and much more sobering takes. I was moved to tears at times and have never written a review before, but I wanted ... Read More:
