Admittedly, I'm not a music expert. But I know what I like, and this is not it. It's about as ugly as music can get. Didn't enjoy it at all.
Release Date October 25, 1990
This is Dan Fogelberg at his best all the songs are at least good, and a few are exceptional. Each has such excellent, intricate arrangements and gorgeous melodies. The songs seem to me to be split between three types; ballads, of which there are aplenty, rockers (there are four), and epic sounding tracks. 'The sand and the foam' is a gorgeous example of the first, lovely acoustic guitars and melody. The three epic tracks are the best on the album. 'The reach', 'ghosts' and 'in the passage' contain mind boggling brilliant arrangements and excellent singing. They are the type of songs that are so complex, you can keep listening to them as they have multi parts. Of the rockers, 'lost in the sun' has a memorable riff and lead guitar parts, and 'empty cages' ... Read More:

Please see my review about the 3LP box set of the live concert for my very positive feedback about the Mobile Fidelity Gain2 system and how it brings out new dimensions in Alison's voice. The same feelings apply here but I also have a couple of criticisms which need mentioning. First I have to fault Mobile Fidelity for choosing this album to bring out along side the live recording. While I agree that this is one of AKUS best albums musically, the fidelity of the original studio recording is VASTLY inferior to her most recent two albums "LONELY RUNS BOTH WAYS"
and especially the most recent "100 MILES or MORE. I don't mean to be too much of an "audiophile snob" (as my girlfriend calls me). It seems to me that the issue of spending $40-65 dollars ... Read More:

The booming bass of Tennessee Ernie Ford is truly something to behold. The envy of opera baritones, Tennessee Ernie Ford is one of the few singers (Crosby and Como come to mind) who can sing the saddest of laments one minute and turn around and sing the funniest of ditties the next. His discography reflects this, and spans from country to rock and from gospel to pop. But, of all Tennessee Ernie Ford's music, I prefer his gospel. His deep, emotive baritone is perfect for shading the notes of even the most wistful heavenly pleas. This CD compilation represents an excellent sampling of his many gospel LPs. Every type of gospel song is present, from the obscure to the ubiquitous. However, what separates these versions of hymns from others is untimely Tennessee himself. ... Read More:

This is a great collection of Emmylou's work.
Unfortunately there is not a big support base here in Australia for Emmylou and it is great to be able to get her music from you. I am impressed with the quality of your business and the handling of my order.
Thank you very much.

Well, its not nearly as good as Until We Felt Red, and there are some really weak tracks like Pull Me Out Alive, which is really dumbed down and has a very simple structure, almost sounds like Tegan and Sarah or something. The music seems to lack the creativity of her previous efforts, and many of the instrumental songs sound underdeveloped, as in they come off as sections of a larger work that doesn't quite complete. The guitar work isn't nearly as interesting as her other records, with the exception of Air and Kilometers.
But that being said, its still not a horrible album, and it does grow on you a bit, so its worth a download. The best tracks are, Saving Days in a Frozen Head, and Air and Kilometers.

I've had Eric's new CD for a week or more - and been playing it a lot - but held off posting my review until today because I had a chance to see him perform some of the songs live last night. He's as good in person - with support from just his drummer and bassist (who plays keyboards when Eric is on guitar rather than on keyboards). There's even a guitar solo on the song "It Hasn't Been Long Enough" where the sax is on the CD.
But back to the CD. The hooks are great and one listen to "Rock and Roll" will grab you. Check out the youtube video of this song to get a sample. The visuals are silly but LISTEN to the song.
This is the kind of pop music that is light and catchy and will appeal to a wide age range. At his gig there were fans from 16 to 60. I agree ... Read More:

"Enlightenment" is part of the 2nd wave of Van Morrison remastered reissues to hit the shops in 2008 (see full list below). Released Monday 30 June 2008 in the UK and 1 July 2008 in the USA, it also boasts an upgraded booklet and 2 bonus tracks for the first time.
Here's the layout (58:52 minutes):
Tracks 1 to 10 make up the original album - it was released in October 1990 on Polydor
Tracks 11 and 12 are previously unreleased bonus tracks - "Enlightenment (Alternate Take)" and "So Quiet In Here (Alternate Take)"
The upgraded booklet has the lyrics to the two Alternate Takes after the rest of the album, session notes and beneath the see-through inlay is a photo that matches the original artwork. Disappointingly, there's no new liner notes, no interview, ... Read More:
