I would have given 5 stars. Iconoclassic did a beautiful job remastering and reissuing "Nested". The sounds quality on "Seasons of Light" is equally superb. Cleary much care and consideration were given to this effort. I do have a complaint, however. Although Iconoclassic included the LP version of "Timer" as a bonus track, they failed to do the same with "Emmie". I happen to think the LP version of "Emmie" is superior to the CD version that is included in this set. It is unfortunate that Iconoclassic decided to skip this and miss out on creating a truly complete collection.

John Prine's homespun wisdom continues to pour from his newer work. "Fair & Square" has some gems. "Crazy As a Loon" focuses on dreams always a bit out of reach, "That town will make you crazy; Just give it a little time; You'll be walking 'round in circles down at Hollywood & Vine." Pat McLaughlin co-wrote "Taking a Walk" with John with Phil Parlapiano's accordion giving a homey feel. "Some Humans Ain't Human" rails against hypocrisy, "You might go to church & sit down in a pew; Those humans who ain't human could be sitting right next to you; They talk about your family; They talk about your clothes when they don't know their own a*s from their own elbows." Pat McLaughlin again teams with Prine for "Morning Train," "I saw you all dolled up singing ... Read More:

Beneath These Fireworks is one of the few CDs I can listen to all the way through. There really isn't one song that I don't like, but some of my favorites include "I Saw", "Suspended" and "Curve of the Earth".
Not only do I enjoy the music, but I love Matt's approach to the business. He is interested in making quality music and building his fan base through touring and actually getting to know the people. He keeps ticket prices low, puts on a great show, and is very approachable. An all around great guy.

This double album is representative of V.M.'s best recent stuff. The fact that the sublime "Shenandoah" and "Meet Me in the Indian Summer" (Orchestral version) are included is alone worth the price of purchase. I've probably listened to Shenandoah 30 times already; it's a soul-stirring beauty of a song.

Pete Seeger's Greatest Hits is a collection of songs that were sung in the 60's. Listening to the album brought me back to a time of hope for a kinder, fairer world. Some songs were serious and some were just fun.

Having listened to EG for years and years and also seen her live more than once, I found this album to be her most poignant and conscious to date. With intelligence and passion, she is writing songs here which combine to decry the state of the world, not simplistically but with complex and thoughtful lyrics, yet also to endorse some small hope. The lyrics coupled with the very somber and gorgeous accompaniments really brought me to tears at times. She also really gets the difficulties of women in the world today, yet does not press. I was intrigued also by her echoes of old fifties tunes and lyrics which she has revised ironically for our times with very different and much more sobering takes. I was moved to tears at times and have never written a review before, but ... Read More:
