I am a big fan of Cat Power and she can do no wrong in my eyes. Loved her rendition of these covers but her most amazing music is in her own original music.A new rising talent whose music is reminiscent of the original Cat Power stuff is Arrica Rose whose new album La La Lost blows me away. After reading numerous POSITIVE Reviews I thought I would give this CD a shot, as I am also a fan of early 1900's French and Parisian Music... and this CD was extolled to be such....and these were also very romantic times! Well, as we all have broad tastes in music so do I and when I say my tastes are broad, I'm being conservative as about the only thing I don't like is Opera and Rap! Anything else in between usually works! However, not this CD! I've TRIED listening to every track and was, today, on my 3rd-attempt to try and find something about it that I could enjoy! I got up to selection #5 and hit the eject button! To me it was nothing but noise, more noise and then some more!! It's going on eBay tomorrow for 1-cent plus shipping! Look for it!

Donovan Leitch was an icon, of sorts, of the sixties. He was a part of the hippie/folk music movement that began back then. Bob Dylan was one of the big movers & shakers of this movement & many, including Donovan, took up this banner. Donovan was definitely at the front of this movement for a period of time & had some major hits, some of them classic & timeless. This is supposedly the original version with bonus tracks added. Well, it is & it isn't; at least two of the tracks that were on the original vinyl version, as many others have stated, aren't the versions that was on that vinyl record.

In 1969, when the original vinyl version was released, this album went to #4 on the album charts, which was the highest any of his albums ... Read More:

I think everything has been said already in the previous reviews so there's not much - or rather nothing - I can add.

All I wanted to say is that this is a very special record for me. I listen to a lot of music and own several hundred CDs but this one is really outstanding. I think that this record is really emotional but in a pleasent kind of way. A lot of songs on the album bring tears to my eyes everytime I hear them. The whole project was a great idea and one can feel that the participators put all their heart and love into it.

In short: Mermaid Avenue is one of the records that makes live worth living for me.

I'm a fan of Wilco but I love this one better than any of their studio-albums.

Ever since David Archuleta mentioned her name on The View I have been enjoying this angel's songs. She had such a beautiful voice and was really just beginning to realize her talent when she passed from her earthly body. I now own 5 of her CDs and my favorite songs include True Colors, I Know You By Heart, Time Is a Healer, and How Can I Keep From Singing. The quality on most of the albums is very good and it amazes me that some of the recordings were completed after her death using rough recordings and making them so beautiful. Thank You David for introducing me to Eva.
