Preview sound bytes make this album quite attractive. Unfortunately, once I listened to the album, each song starts sounding very much like the previous one, and each song seems interminable, stringing along the listener on the same sound and beat forever. Could not wait for the end of the album.

I preordered this CD. I just listen to it for the second time. This is satire at it's most boring. Don't bother with this CD. Ry has done much more interesting stuff, both lyrically and musically. Listen to the samples before you buy. I wish I did. If you like what you hear ignore this and go with your own tastes but for me "yuck!"

A couple of good songs, but all in all a bit too squared off. Not much imagination, roots music doesn't have to be so dry. I was drawn to her by her appearance at the Gram Parson Tribute concert. When she has great songs to sing she is really fine.

Often thought of as a Sunset Strip version of Peter, Paul, and Mary because of their two-men/one-woman line-up and their basic acoustically-inclined folk-rock sound, the Stone Poneys, though they only stuck around a short time (their break-up happening more or less in the spring of 1968) and were never hugely successful, clearly benefited from the songwriting strengths of the guys, Bobby Kimmel and Ken Edwards, and the vocal strength of their lead singer, a young Arizonan named Linda Ronstadt. And after much prodding, Capitol/EMI has finally seen fit to release the official two albums of the trio, plus tracks from a third Stone Poneys album that was mostly Linda plus members of the L.A. session mafia, onto a complete CD.

If you like bands like The Pogues, Dubliners etc. you will like this as well. Nothing really surprising or new, just good Irish folklore in "pub rock" or even punk style. Big load of energy and sentiments. Listening this, all you want to do is go to good Irish pub, collect couple pints of Guinness and probably switch to Irish whiskey later...

Vashti Bunyan's first and second albums were released, uh, thirty-five years apart. Meaning it could have been more than three decades before we heard from her again.

Fortunately such is not the case. "Some Things Just Stick in Your Mind: Singles and Demos 1964-1967" collects scattered odds and ends of Bunyan's early work, and you'd really never have known that it's from decades ago -- these two discs are full of timeless pop and pretty little folk songs.

It kicks off with the title track, a smooth and catchy concoction of strings, cymbals, guitar and brazen horn. This is an absolutely incredible collection that anyone who even remotely likes Bob Dylan should own. I purchased it brand new and it came in wrapping, but it consistently skips on one song at the same place. I noticed slight gouges in the CD.
