I found this cd to be a beautiful addition to my collection. I do vinotherapy in my spa and use it for the background music. It is perfect for this wonderful therapy. Imagine a "Bella Lucce"" grapeseed crush body scrub, honey and wine mask and a relaxing massage, all listening to this beautiful cd. Highly recommend it.

As an instructor of a college level Music Appreciation course, I consider this CD to be a very handy item in my teaching arsenal. Believe it or not, these young adults appreciate being engaged in hands-on listening lessons, and the format of the composition allows for that. The quality and clarity of the sound is outstanding, and the orchestra of French musicians pays homage to their native son Camille Saint Saens. Saint-Saens: Carnival of the Animals

This CD is one of my favorites to listen to when I feel the need to be closer to the Spirit. Mack Wilberg is a master at transforming old hymns into glorious arrangements. I have had experience with high school students who love singing his arrangements even within the context of a world that seems in a state of constant conflict. THIS CD IS FABULOUS!

I have no dissappointments. It is clear that the featured artists have surprising talent. There was more than one 'Wow!' in this receording.

Was a little disappointed with the CD. Was expecting more music that he is famous for, but instead, it had a number of little known works.

Another solid live release. Where's the studio release though? I found myself replaying the same new songs over and over again and skipped over the classic songs. Everything All The Time is great. Just Be was good and their live cover of Don't Make Sense were the three songs that really made this for me. Get back to the studio though because I'm done buying the live versions of the same old songs.

It's hard not to like Elgar -- his music is tuneful, bombastic in all the right ways, and has an air of ceremony that somehow perfectly fits what British music should sound like. I guess it's just that Elgar defines "British" music.
There are certainly highlights in this set -- Falstaff and the Cello Concerto are so good that I think any other performance I'll ever hear of either of them will be ruined because they won't compare. The oratorios The Dream of Gerontius and The Apostles as presented are widely considered the best out there. And I haven't heard better. There's plenty more here to enjoy even if they're not absolutely authoritative.
I don't like Barbirolli's interpretation of the symphonies -- he takes the "noble" ... Read More:

This is a great bargain deal if you want to hear the music from this opera. Is this a great performance? No, it is not. The strongest part of this recording is the conducting, great pacing all the way through. The worst part is Milnes AWFUL falsetto note in Largo al factorum. How the hell did this make it on the final product? Horrible, sounds like a teenage boy. Other than that, it is decent.

I first heard this piece in the movie "Soylent Green", in the scene where Edward G. Robinson's character goes to the euthanasia center, and only recently discovered the title of the piece. If morning had a theme song, the first movement of this piece, "Morning Mood", couldn't be any better suited for it. It sounds like a peaceful morning in a forest or at the beach looks. This cd also contains the piece "Hall of the Mountain King", much to my delight. A must have for any classical music collection.
