Just like others, when I saw the "Hot Damn" video by the Clipse and the "Frontin'" video with Pharrell and Jay-Z, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this. I remember buying it the sunday before it was supposed to come out. To tell you the truth, I wasn't very happy with this album.
Production is okay at best. Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo do a decent job keeping the production together, like as I mentioned earlier, the song "Frontin'". Also the Busta Rhymes song "Light Your [...] On Fire" carries a nice beat. But songs like "Popular Thug" with Nas and Kelis, and "Blaze Of Glory" is not what I expected from this duo.
The biggest problem on this album is the lyrics. Some of these artists sound like they wrote their ... Read More:

There's a few reasons that Digable Planet's sophomore album "Blowout Comb" is one of my top 10 favorite hip-hop albums ever made. First and foremost, the mix of jazz & hip-hop, in my opinion, is one of the most organic and natural mash-ups of two genres I've ever heard. And one could argue that "Blowout Comb" is the purest mixture of these elements. Fresh off of the grammy-success of their debut "Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space)", DP hit the studio again to release their most artistic vision of their painfully short-lived career in 1994.
Their artistic vision is considerably richer on their sophomore effort, although it never reached the commercial heights of their debut. The production, which favors live instrumental ... Read More:

I know a lot of people are going to catch flack with me for saying this but this is Busta Rhymes best effort since The Coming. Busta Rhymes was a lot better as the schizophrenic MC we know and love and not this cookie cutter rapper we here now(talking about guns and drugs. WTF for?) Busta's crazy flow would keep you hanging on every word as the awesome production literally would make you "Break Your neck". Standout tracks:EVERYBODY RISE, WHERE WE ARE ABOUT TO TAKE IT, TEAR DA ROOF OFF, AGAINST ALL ODDS, GIMME SOME MORE, IZ THEY WILDIN WIT US & GETTIN ROWDY WIT US(one of the best matchups in 1998: Busta Rhymes and Mystikal), PARTY IS GOIN ON OVER HERE, DO THE BUS A BUS, WHATS IT GONNA BE, HOT S*** MAKIN YOU BOUNCE, WHAT THE F*** YOU WANT etc. Filler: ... When I first heard this album when it came out, I didn't take it too seriously cause it was just different from low end theory and midnight marauders. After a couple of listens, I realize that this album was the perfect ending to a spectacular career. The only way I can describe this album is "futuristic native tongue." I think that this album was ahead of it's time when it was released, hence some of the indifferent or negative feedback on this album. My personal favorites are 1: Da Booty 2: Busta's lament 3: Mutty Ranks 4: Find a way.
Don't sleep on this album!!!! It's genius in it's own way.

I remember listening to Mecca And The Soul Brother, and Pete Rock's Soul Survivor none stop (to this day I still do.) But one day, I needed more. I looked at the track list, and "I Got A Love" was the only familliar song. I decided though, to take my chances and order it, which I'm glad I did. In my opinion, Pete Rock's production is just as good in this as it is in Mecca and The Soul Brother (his production in the title track is mind blowing.) I prefer C.L's lyrics more in Mecca, but that's not at all to say that these are in any way bad.
If you're a fan of "All Souled Out" "Mecca And The Soul Brother" and/or any of their solo material, but don't own this, I suggest you get this right away. If you don't own any of their albums, first get ... Read More:

It is a fantastic album, a nice collection of artists are put together by Prince Paul and Dan the Automator, good beats, good skits. It instantly became one of my favorite cds. Was blown away when I heard a Jack Johnson song over a beat. Some songs are hit and miss, but I would recommend this cd to anybody that likes hip-hop

This one of the best soundtracks out there. At the time this soundtrack came out it was one of the earliest albums to bring to together rock and rap music. Everyone of these songs is great to listen too. Get it you will not regret it.

The entire CD has good music to vibe to. If you are looking for something to ride to or to get crunk to, this is it. Kanye always brings us the real side of him and that's why I appreciate his music. And for sure if I had to chose between Kanye and 50 - it's Kanye HANDS DOWN!
