I had been at a musical festival when I first heard these guys but we all know that doesn't necessarily translate into enjoying their studio albums.....I did and still do. I NEVER would have thought I would enjoy music that did not have a guitar but there you are! "Third" is innovative, melodic, intricate, and intriguing.

To be honest, it wasn't what I expected, but I still enjoyed the video, because it brought situations that are affecting young adults to the forefront, so I applaud Sigur Ros. Though I wouldn't classify this as a complete CD, just a few pieces of some great work perfectly orchestrated together.
As for all the criticism on the video Viõrar Vel Til Loftárasa, I personally feel like this video was releasing that part of life that was troubling someone for a long time. The crying out inside of the bitter memories, entangled in the joy and in the happiness that his surroundings condemned. This is seen not only by the father figure in the video, but the Rev., and the bible, the people at the game, and praying before hand, also the fish representing ... Read More:

I recently purchased Ohm, the early gurus of electronic music, and I am very immpressed. By far the most important criteria for judgment must be the quality of the cleaning up of early recordings. Every track on all three CDs has a low noise floor, which has been achieved without the loss of palpability or dynamic range that is so common with the usual cleaning processes. The other stand out feature is that this is the complete package; 114 page booklet with great art work, 13-16 tracks on each CD and a 20 track DVD. The whole lot is so well put together that I am proud to own it. Only one track each from the 30's and 40's, and heaps from the 50's and 60's. I'm glad I bought this.

This is an okay cut of the Bungle page, but far from their other brilliant works. Do not buy this for your first Bungle experience, save it for later.

LWBYH sounds like Radiohead if they continued being the poppy, ever-so-slightly-and-depressively-edgy alternative after Pablo Honey. Throw in one part Doves, half a pint of Travis, and a dash of old U2 and we have an album that still does not end up sounding as stale as it sounds. Then again, nothing sounds terribly memorable either. A disc that gets by on a consistent number of halfway-decent songs, but fades away after play is done.

In spite of Arcade Fire's ubiquitous presence in the indie music press over the past few years and after the release of one EP/two LP's, I somehow remained unexposed to their music. In fact, the only thing I had really heard was their cover of Yeah Yeah Yeahs's "Maps" from 2005. I had read about their music here and there but never felt compelled enough to seek them out. Recently I noticed they were playing on Austin City Limits, which I often watch, so I thought it was a good opportunity to check them out. Much to my surprise, from the beginning of their set I was entranced. Arcade Fire is emotional without being sappy and diverse without seeming unfocused. I felt like an instant convert. I immediately downloaded their debut EP. When I've decided to explore a band full on I typically like to start ... Read More:

This is an interesting work of you are looking for a collection of weird sounds. It's really just a bunch of atonal sounds randomly tossed together.
For those that think this is some gifted composer baring his soul or something, well, okay... Some will consider this high art. But then some consider a painting of a red square on a black canvas to be worthy of hanging in a museum. Some folks can read all sorts of meaning into something that inherently contains none. If you're that person, this album is for you.
For those that aren't art snobs, though, this is an album of odd noises.

I know exactly why people rate this much higher than i have. I'm not criticizing anyone who rated this higher; this is just a personal opinion. Basically, after hearing what Richard D. James is capable of, this just fell short of a few expectations. I LOVE most of the songs, but there are a couple of songs i dont like as much that drag the whole album down for me. Tracks like "4", "Peek", "Girl/Boy Song", "Yellow Calx" and "Milkmen" are GREAT! I love listening to these tracks because they're so cleverly made. But, for example, the high pitched keyboard in "Corn Mouth" and the whilstles in "Logon Rock Witch" just come across as annoying. I respect experimentation in music (please dont get me wrong), and i listen to a lot of music like Merzbow, Sunn0))), Sonic Youth, but when i hear some sounds on this album, ... Read More:

I have every major sonic youth release, and I gotta disagree with the few negative reviews on this cd. Every SY album is different then the next really, but this one shines brighter with individuality. You can tell they had a lot of fun with this album, and went in a very different direction. I love the album though. It's not their best, but anyone who likes sonic youth should own it. I'll admit it's hit or miss; some songs are pretty bad (and I love almost all SY stuff), but others are brilliant. If all other SY releases are on Earth, this cd is out in space. It combines the mellow ambience of NYC Ghosts & Flowers with Dirty's hard hitting riffs and distortion. When I'm in the mood for Experimental Jet Set, nothing can come close

Although I admit I am largely unfamiliar with 2 of Aphex Twin's most famous pieces of work, "Selected Ambient Works Volume 2" and "The Richard D. James Album", I can confidently say that this is lightyears beyond the early "Selected Ambient Works 85-92" and "I Care Because You Do", as well as the recent "Analord" vinyl EPs. These compositions are beautiful, multi-faceted and detailed on a level almost comparable to Autechre.
"Drukqz" is perfectly thematic and atmospheric, while being incredibly diverse, stylistically, which is no easy feat... Ambient pieces and piano compositions flow seamlessly in and out of the glitchy IDM songs in an ethereal, red gold haze. The more minimal compositions aren't a completely different style as much as deconstructed; the droning ambiences of tracks like "gwely mernans" ... Read More:
