the bonus track is a wonderful song sang by marie serneholt and sara lumholdt called "don't even know your name".

i think this cd has a lot of variety but corny cheesy beats that you just can't help but sing and dance to. i loves it.

Greatest Hits

CD-Charts > Music > Euro Pop
by: Toto Cutugno

Release Date May 13, 2002
I remember seeing and hearing Toto Cutugno singing L'Italiano at the 1983 San Remo Music Festival when I lived in Italy. I loved that song, full of pride in his nation and tongue-in-cheek jabs at his homeland. So 24 1/2 years later I decided to buy his Greatest Hits CD. I wish I hadn't. It destroyed a lot of memories. L'Italiano is still what it was when I first heard him sing it. The rest of the album is almost a throwaway. There are one or two other bright spots, but by and large, all the songs blend into a techno mush, none of them really standing out from the other. If you really want to own a copy of the song L'Italiano, maybe there's a less expensive way, or a collection with other artists that makes it a better investment. The ... Read More:

Waterloo

by: ABBA

Release Date March 16, 1999
I never bought this album in my vinyl days, content with the tracks that were included on their first Greatest hits album, though I did buy it on CD. As with the Ring ring album, the selection of songs to be included on Greatest hits was spot on. The four selected (Waterloo, Hasta manana, Honey honey and Dance while the music still goes on) are easily the best tracks on this album. Not that there's anything wrong with the other songs here, just that the other four are exceptional.

The title track is by far the best known - this up-tempo song easily won the Eurovision song contest and quickly topped the British chart. It also topped the charts in many other countries and was also a top ten hit in America.

by: Phoenix

Release Date September 19, 2000
Pheonix is weird mix of rock and dance music which are both present occasionally. Most of the album is pretty catchy albeit cheesy and a guilty pleasure (I don't think you would show this album to your friends - see songs like "On Fire" especially), so at least there's something to hold your interest. Thomas Mars has a relatively pleasant voice, but he will definitely alienate some people as he's distinctly poppy (as opposed to, say, Nada Surf's singer who is poppy but still manages to be very likable). There are no bad songs here (though they're all forgettable), even if a couple of them are just "alright". There's a hint of 70's disco in some of these songs, especially the beginning of "Embuscade". "Definitive Breaks" is really the only song on the album ... Read More:

Youth Novels

CD-Charts > Music > Euro Pop
by: Lykke Li

Release Date June 17, 2008
Youth Novels (2008, LL Recordings) Lykke Li's first studio album. ***1/2

In 2007 I became very tired of minimalism. It had been around since the late 1990s, and only few bands were able to do it successfully, namely blues-based bands such as the White Stripes and the Black Keys. There were others of course, but they seemed to be the only ones who had it down pat. And even then I wasn't crazy about it; Icky Thump, while still an exceptional album, ranked as one of the Stripes' weakest outputs. At the same time, wonderfully flourished albums like Neon Bible were sonically epic in every sense, and that was the direction that I had been waiting for.

And now in 2008, we've been seeing less minimalism in favor of bigger sounds. That doesn't ... Read More:

Love Story

CD-Charts > Music > Euro Pop
by: Various Artists

Release Date August 05, 1991
A classic album! I remember this album out at the same time the "Shaft" was out by Isaac Hayes in the very early 70's. I've only got this on cassette right now and will be ordering the CD. I'm surprised it took so long to actually be released on CD. Most of the tracks on the album are just different renditions/arrangements of the Love Story theme. I especially like "The Christmas Trees", and the sultry vocal on "I Love You, Phil." This album brings back those memories from the early 70's, a time when the world seemed a little less complex and down to earth.

Ultra Dance 08

CD-Charts > Music > Euro Pop
by: Various Artists

Release Date January 23, 2007
This Cd compilation is actually pretty weak. Typically most people buy these cd's cause they put out new dance, techno, house, or progressive music that is great and cutting edge. The mainstream Cd of this compilation (disc 1)is better than than dance techno version, and that right there tells me this CD is not gonna be that good.
Eric prydz pink floyd remix is very good, of course Tiesto is always good, Peter Lutz has a strong track on here and some retro dance music people might recognize the remix of Don't go, but besides those the rest of the songs on disc 2 are awful including sander kleinenberg, who has alot of really good music. Disc 2 mostly sounds like euro break beats and cheesy pop music, not what most of us buy this Set for which is great dance, techno, trance, ... Read More:

I have treasured this CD. It's a great way to introduce the rich French repertoire of folk music to language learners. Her voice is heavenly and her rendition of these lilting ballads are a perfect match for each other.
