Dr. Jeffrey Thompson has released another CD collection of brainwave entrainment music. This one features brainwave frequencies combined with nature sounds. I particularly enjoyed "Beta - Awakened Rainforest" and "Theta - Meditative Stream".
I've found the Beta CD to be excellent for clearing out the cobwebs on these dark winter mornings. It really helps me to get myself going in the A.M.
The Theta CD is also very useful. I use it both for deepening self-hypnosis sessions and for unwinding before going to bed.
The Alpha and Delta CD's are very similar to past Thompson releases, which is the only reason I'm not giving this collection a full five stars.

Thundering Rainstorm: Nature's Relaxing Sounds

I bought this cd almost ten years ago. I was in a car accident a few years later and it was unfortunately destroyed. I knew I had kept the cd cover and stuck it in a box, but I couldn't find it all this time. I've searched for the cd online over the years, but could never find this specific "thundering rainstorm". Then, today I was going through boxes because I am moving, and I found it! I am so happy! I used to listen to this cd every night to help me go to sleep... I can still remember that one point in the cd where the thunder strikes kind of loud and it makes you feel like it's actually a thundering rainstorm outside. I can't wait to buy this cd and fall to sleep listening to it again. :)

This cd is excellent, and one that I generally keep for sleepy time relaxing. It contains two tracks, The Sea: Calm (gentle sounds of the waves/water lapping against each other..very soothing!) and the second track: The Sea: Surf - again soothing, but this time the waves are deeper out in the sea, and a little more "crashing" (I use this term reluctantly because it's not a rough sound, but it's a little louder than the first track) Both tracks are extremely soothing, and beautiful to listen to. I love to lay in bed and listen to the sounds, imagining that I'm sleeping right by the sea in some beautiful, warm, tropical paradise.
I also love this album because unlike other "sounds of nature" style cd's, this one contains no music or other ... Read More:

While the sound of the stream is relaxing and well recorded, there are way too many birds around. The CD describes their sound as distant and faint, but that's far from accurate. The parts of the CD where all you hear is the stream alone don't add up to more than 10 minutes, and never last more than a minute. For the most part you will hear the stream and plenty of birds, rather close and sometimes very loud.

Buyer beware: the 30 second samples you get here are precisely from the parts with no birds at all! Very misleading.

Not worth buying. I recently purchased this CD. The unfortunate part was I had to wing it because there was no sample available. The rain sounds wonderful but then your good feeling turns to a bad one. The sax just doesn't work in nature. It actually sounds like this individual could be a reject that got booted out of jazz camp. Trust me this isn't music, this is annoying. Don't waste your money.
