I liked this CD and the rain very much. My only reservation is the Thunder is a little bit to strong if you are trying to actually sleep. It is great for relaxing. I bought this (and others) to desensitize my dog to thunderstorms and this is the one I won't leave on in the house w/ out me b/c of the sudden loud thunder. It does do it's job however:)

I was a canoe guide in the Boundary Waters Canoe area and have spent many days on Little Indian Sioux and Loon Lake. The sounds in this collection bring me back there instantly. The sound of the paddle gliding through the water is wonderful. You can even hear the water trickle off the end of the paddle. The only thing missing is the feeling of riding the canoe through the water. I listened to this collection for many years on cassette. I am thrilled to find it in the CD format.

Just completely natural outside sound of birds....soft melodic and restful. I've birds in the house and they enjoy it as well! It is just as if you've your windows open and the sounds of nature outside are floating in! So it's particularly nice when it's rainy outside and the windows are closed---just bring a little sunshine indoors with this CD!!

I was intrigued when I saw the name Paul Lawler on the cover of "Planting The Seed" because I learned of him through a compilation called "Elevation 4" back in late 2001 with "White Wings" and "A Process of Elevation" both of which are gorgeous songs. Though "Planting The Seed" is far removed from those tracks, it is still a stunningly gorgeous and transcending work of art with very medative melodies and a calming natural atmosphere that I haven't heard in quite some time. In many ways, I consider this album to be the spiritual successor to Llewellyn's "Shiatsu" album which is a classic in my book as well.

This recording is the best I've heard as far as imaging is concerned. The thunder moves slowly from one side to the other... very precise! Close your eyes and you can pinpoint the sound of the thunder... exactly where it is at any moment... BUT the thunder sounds rather tinny. as if they used very cheap microphones to record the sound of the thunder seperately from the sound of the rain. I've seen more than my share of thunderstorms in my life... and this recording is only accurate in how the sound of the thunder moves... not what it sounds like. Thunder starts as a "crack" then trails off to very low frequency rumbling as it crosses the landscape. Not so in this recording. This is a great buy. The CDs cost under $6.00 apiece in this collection. I play them in a loop in the main living area of my house, and I play them all night for my bird and to mute outside noises that alarm my dogs and set them to barking.

After an auto accident that required that I receive chiropractic care I heard selections of this CD while warming my back on the treatment table. There are many bird calls and songs, plus other animals from the forest that complimented the quiet, soothing music. I decided to get the CD to duplicate that relaxing and pleasant experience. Now I leave it on in the background at home just to have a divergence from the noisy, hurried and sometimes hostile music that is so common on the radio.

This is a wonderful CD. Very comforting and relaxing. It feels like you have all the windows in the house open and you're listening to bird sounds coming in from outside. I love it. Wish there were more CD's of just nature sounds without music behind them.

Sounds of the Earth: Humpback Whales

I searched and searched for a cd that was as close to being underwater with the whales as closely as possible and this is it.

All those other cd's didn't make sense to me. Why would I hear the whales and the surf / shore at the same time. The feeling of being under the surf as if diving naturally slows down my breathing. As for other cd's with bells, whistles and synthesizers they make even less sense.

You can almost feel the pressure of the water on you which is great unless you're claustrophobic. Well done.
