After much consternation over the plethora of recordings available of thunderstorms, I chose this one because of the name. I had read that the Atmosphere Collection was the successor in quality to the marvelous Environments recordings of the 1980's which are unfortunately not available on the CD format. This CD begins auspiciously enough with some rain and nice rumbling in the background. Later, I realized I no longer heard the rain but the thunder only. There is no music and there are no sounds of animals that I was aware of. For some time, I was undecided whether I liked animal sounds on these recordings or not. I'm in love...after receiving this as a gift I feel totally blessed. This is really beautiful and I already bought this for my aunt as well. This is absolutely perfect for my morning yoga. Really, really nicely done. Another musical gift is Oneness, check it out.

The road to peaceful relaxation lies in this CD!!! Highly recommended!! I was so pleasantly surprised to find this just as relaxing and soothing as it actually is. The trick is in how it is blended to perfection. Nothing is too loud or overpowering, the sounds are balanced and harmonious. A great buy. Another brilliant disk is Heart of Peace, ahhh...

Songbirds by the Stream

I love this CD! It has the sounds of the birds singing, water flowing in a stream and other nature sounds. It's very relaxing. It makes you feel like you are sitting next to the stream and the birds are all around singing. I highly recommend this CD.

Painting the scene: sitting by a lake, amidst trees and overgrown grass, dragonflies chasing after each other, the reflection of a hawk flying overhead in the still and sometimes moving waters... ~-~ the sound of tree cicadas, the wind, the rhythm of breath in the body, and GARDEN OF SERENITY playing through some headphones.

Some reviewers seem to have missed the point. This kind of music is at once the easiest and most challenging to appreciate. It's difficult for many people to let go, turn off, and enjoy something without there being a constant doer. i've been falling asleep to this disc for more than 10 years - can't sleep w/o it -- i've gotten my husband hooked as well, and just bought another to bring with me when i'm on the road!

often, when nature sounds are coupled with music, they become obscured by the instrumentation playing along with it. also, i have found it hard to fall asleep to this 'nature music,' as with repetitive play, i begin to memorize the melodies and become distracted by them. this cd is the perfect remedy -- just bare nature, ideal white noise.

This disc contains a number of well-recorded bird songs...but it's the wrong number. The publisher created an incorrect index for this disc and it makes using it rather difficult. If you know what the birds sound like, it's a fine resource, but I haven't figured them all out and I must admit to being a bit frustrated. Perhaps this item should be recategorized under puzzles :-)

We had this CD years ago and it was lost.
We use it for "white noise" when we sleep at night. It's a nice steady rain fall sound with no sudden noises such as thunder or loud chirping birds.
If you use white noise to sleep by, I highly recommend this recording!

Now I know that this was recorded in 1970 but that is no excuse for the VERY POOR RECORDING.

So whats wrong. Well firstly there is an almighty hiss. I had to turn down the high end of my graphic equaliser right down and even still I can hear it.
Secondly the sound is muffled with no clarity. Infact not only is it muffled, it has worn spots as if it was a cassette tape.

So basically this recording wasn't copied off the master tape. This CD sounds like it was copied straight from a well used cassette tape. Infact I'll even put money on a bet, I'm that confident (unless of course the master tape was very poor in the first place).

This is a wonderful CD I use it almost everyday in my quiet time with God. It is the most relaxing music. I love listening to the birds sing in the backgound. I had it playing one time with others and they insisted they heard birds outside. They barely belived me that it was a CD.
